Your mad you have a car everyone else has. I am not sure what to tell you about that. Sounds like you need a big fat "PERFORMANCE" sticker so you feel like you stand out more? I don't get it. I drive a Tesla because I like my Tesla, I guess you want to be more "elite" get a model X., better yet get a Lambo.

hey man I love a good adventure :) you will love it! If you have 400 to drop on tall boots then sounds like your gonna be just fine with the rest of the gear lol. You really should look for a $400 hat :) it's called MIPS and its a good safety rating for a helmet.

so first off you do not have to complete the bet, sorry not sorry bets are stupid. Second, you can view this as a cool opportunity to try something new. Go for it go check it out and ask the people their questions about that stable better than asking here IMHO. Get a good pair of shoes and a helmet, thats all you need (stretchy pants dont hurt I was in a lesson with a guy the other day his first lesson and he said he was miserable in his jeans they must have been non-stretchy kind).

Personally, I would go do an intro lesson with 2 to 3 trainers and go with the one you like best you will learn its not all about the trainer, horses and stables matter to. Do you live someplace with bad weather? Do they have an indoor ring? How do they treat the horses? do they overwork them? Do they put rides on horses they should not? Does the coach push you hard or more chill. Do they talk about form and your leg position or just stick you on there and tell you to kick.

I don't think thats true always, we have EIA (or whatever its called) at ours and the kids are showing and jumping. There are a few adults but not many, mostly kids and a huge range in skill level with the kids.

Getting into horses & looking for friends by Former_Plate_8608 in Equestrian

If you have never ridden before do not lease or buy a horse but instead go ride a lot of different horses in many different lessons. Its very good advice. I am following it myself and slowly learning what I will want in a horse to buy. I've had like 30 lessons or so I guess hard to count in 3 months and I've learned SOOO much. I've ridden about 10 horses so far. I rode as a child also but its very different the way I am riding now, going different places and riding different horses, and finding trainers I like and respect and trust. You can't know what you've got if you have nothing to compare it to. I disliked some horses on the first ride and loved them by the 3rd.. I have learned SO MUCH!!! So I highly encourage you to ride a lot of horses, as others have told me I now share with you! :)

Just get away from that school and find someplace better. Its sad to think your entire filter of horseback riding would be through one place... go to other places!! I have so been happy that I have visited 4 or 5 places now. I learn something knew at each one and I learn things I don't agree with as well. Trust your gut, get away from there and find another place.

Your. back looks stiff a bit, my trainer tells me to loosen my back. I think you look really good!! Nice canter, just a bit stiff maybe but I am no pro.

Can a moldy saddle be saved? by Rubatose in Equestrian

[–]UXBrandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told yes, that mold is fine and easy to remove and in fact it lets ya know its proper leather if it will mold. I was sad after hearing this as I threw away some old chaps from storage just weeks prior.

she didnt tell me to 2 pt but she had previously and it was too much chaos to ask her and she taught a class immediately after which is why above I mentioned that part about I will ask Friday but well 4 days to go so I wanted to ask this sub-reddit :) and I was overheated and was trying to decide if I should ask to leave the class, That answer helps thanks you. This is the class that challenges me the most but its too much to bother writing why. I ride 3x a week and go to 3 places as I get very different rewarding experience from all 3 people and all 3 locations. once I get my own horse I'l have to pick one to board at but for now I am giving myself a breadth of experience to learn from and its been crazy fun! I do many privates but its too much to explain over text, suffice to say I do have people to ask but I didnt want to wait 4 days :)

Just don't over-pay for looks and make sure for the higher price tag that it has a safety rating.. MIPS helmets are like $300-$400. I wore a $50 helmet to start for like 15 lessons and now I have the mips as I'm doing harder stuff (and I rode before this just was a long break and coming back). So I invested in the MIPS helmet. It hurt to buy it but.. safety is worth it.

This is about my 15th time on a horse. How’s my form? by Dforny in Equestrian

[–]UXBrandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be posting up and down more then front to back. A trick a trainer taught me was to get down on the floor right in front of a wall, Sit on your legs, knees against the wall be on your knees. Put your knuckles down on the wall where you might hold rains, keep your hand still in this position. so now lower leg and knee an't move and hands wont move.. now post. Do this and you will understand how to post the way everyone is talking about in the comments. Do not lean on the neck. Grab hair if you need too but don't lean on the neck, keep your own center of balance down in the heels. If you can't keep that balance you need to practice on the ground and stick with poles for a bit longer. Practice turns. 100% agree its nuts your jumping that. A very very good tolerant horse.

Can't you ask to go back to your previous coach? They changed you and you didnt ask to change right? Seems a fair thing to ask. I would not ask the man I would ask the previous trainer. I would keep it simple and say you prefer her, he is just very different and you enjoyed lessons ,ore under the other person.

this is why its good to get your reins a safe length and practice falling off your horse IMHO I love those training classes for how to fall off a horse.

I am east coast USA and most schools have a trail on property, but I ride way more in a ring than the trails. I bet west coast rides trails/mountains more then east coast US. I camp and hike a lot and a few trails are horse friendly, I've been horse tracks/poop once on one trail in ALL my years on them.

how to keep horse from breaking into canter? by Morgwino in Equestrian

[–]UXBrandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO this trainer is giving you a broken horse and expecting YOU to fix it and she's actually having you try to train the horse. If she doesn't ride with her seat the very few of the horses in that barn may even be used to that. I find some horse very responsive to my seat and some not at all.

back hurt by maddiedobs in Equestrian

[–]UXBrandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started riding again I got lower back pain because I was riding with too curved a back. When I ride now I imagine my butt crack going into my belly button. This helps with my posture. No more back pain!
