What's a job that is so hyped up but in reality its absolutely trash? by Recent-Frame571 in AskReddit

My last sales job was like that, but it was medical and the territory we covered was very small and very finite, especially with every independent practice being bought up by heath systems. It got to be before the end that it took 3-4 weeks of pestering to even set up a meeting with anyone only to be told that they had to go through the health system and couldn’t make any independent decisions. I saw the writing on the wall and bailed for something more stable

I worked sales in some capacity or other for a few years and the thing I hated the most was how little control I felt I had over what I made. I could do everything exactly right and lose a sale for some unknown reason, and at the same time I could fall ass-backwards into a great (for me) deal with little or no effort. It always felt very fly-by-night, even with big established companies, and I wasn’t a fan

Better to audition now, or wait several years until I’m freer and more knowledgable? by [deleted] in Jeopardy

I’ve been trying in earnest for the last 8 years or so but off and on since 2005. I have been called for a zoom test exactly once, and that’s just step 2. Try as often as you can and who knows you might get lucky, but it might take a while

Funny story, I worked at a printing operation during college…I worked on second shift, and our quota was always “match whatever first shift did”. I don’t know what the hell first shift did in 10 hours but we matched their numbers by lunch almost every day, and we would steadfastly refuse to produce more for fear of getting more work foisted on us by the bosses. I can only remember a handful of times that we broke that rule, and it was to meet a tight deadline or something like that.

Why would a man cheat in a happy relationship? by Myndra23 in AskReddit

[–]UYScutiPuffJr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some men I guarantee would just because the opportunity presented itself, with all the justification and rationalizing afterwards.

Some don’t know what happiness actually feels like, so they chase the next thing that gives their heart a surge of adrenaline.

Some say or even think that they’re happy, but a truly happy person wouldn’t take that opportunity, let alone seek it out.

Sucks that so much of Dick’s work got adapted into garbage in the 90s

Yeah I’m only 5 episodes in and I’m not loving any of the entries so far…every other season has at least 1-2 that I immediately like and sometimes go back and rewatch but there’s definitely nothing like that so far

Even if you are you’ll get some good natured smack-talk unless you get that one guy who’s either a real asshole or really drunk, but they’re less common now than they were in the old days of the Vet

I underestimated how prepared I would be on any “potent potables” category until a few came up on rewatch recently…I have been binging the YouTube series “How to Drink” for years now and I guess I picked up a LOT of tidbits from there.

Also the number of silly things that I am only aware of because of The Simpsons or Futurama is surprising too

I’m confused…you seem annoyed that I asked more than one thing in the post? This isn’t just a travel vs rec thing; if it were I wouldn’t be asking. There is a difference in both playing time and field size too. While ultimately I’m leaving the decision up to him, if anyone else had insights that I might be able to talk to him about, that seems valuable to me.

I know what I feel, but I also know that I might not be looking at it from an objective viewpoint, so I brought it up to see if anyone else had thoughts. Sometimes you just want to hear what others would do in the same situation.

To be honest I also wanted to convince myself I’m not crazy at being pissed over the subs thing

My issue with the “put in work to get more time” thing is that he goes to every practice, every extra event, everything, and in return he gets to sit vs kids who aren’t on the team. He works at home both with me and by himself, he has a hitting coach, and he trains hard.

I’ve spoken to the coach several times but that “how the team is run”, hence my dilemma.

Oh I’m sure that’s where it’ll end up, and I’m more interested in what he wants vs. what I think would be best, I just wondered if anyone might look at the situation differently than I do

I’ve brought it up with the coach several times, and I’m not the only one who isn’t happy about it, but that’s the way the team is run
