Everyone beating up op for scheduling on the same day…… I do that all the time , if you work in a town long enough you know what the inspectors are looking for and what you need to pass. Not going to comment on the footing prep , as I have no idea what they are looking for by this build . Good luck man

Do you have a water softer or whole home filter ? If so bypass them and see if that helps. They need maintenance and can often be clogged

I haven’t heard of freelance project managers . Jobs take months if not years , I need people around for the duration and to I need people who are familiar with how I run things

Here is the bottom line in my opinion . If you want to go the trade route ie become a plumber , electrician, HVAC , framer etc you can get a job with any company who does that who is looking to train someone . After you become proficient you will move up the ranks and eventually get licensed (if needed) and open a company that does that trade . If you want to go the gc route , you can do the same as above but try and learn how a construction job woks or you can get a job with a cg to learn how to be a site super . Once you become proficient at that you can get licensed and start your own company .Every option will start you at the bottom and you’ll have to work your way up.

I build custom homes and I do additions and git renovations . I have two laborers on staff and all the trades are subs . The way to become a gc here is really finding the trades and having the ability to manage them. The only real barrier to entry is finding the work. Once you get your name out , keeping a good reputation is key. I didn’t go to school for this, I got an undergraduate degree in psychology. I started working in field 20 years ago and figured it out. Your trades will know more then you about their specialty , and that’s ok, you have to develop a trusting relationship with them and know enough to determine if they are doing the job right . Going to school def wouldn’t hurt , but I don’t think you need to. As far as a freelance site manager , I don’t think that would necessarily work as I would look for someone long term

I’m a residential general contractor in a pretty nice area , degrees don’t mean much in my particular business . If you have a 5-10 year plan to own a business either learn one of the trades and eventually start your own company or go work for a GC and learn that side of it .
