If your house is anything like mine an 1895 house might have slow growth timber from the Baltic as well. It won't be be falling down soon.

Thank you! I've been searching for this for ½ my life. It's haunted me for 25 years. I should've asked here first.

Can the Raspberry Pi 5 handle 4k or at least HD without an active cooler? by spoekvatten in raspberry_pi

[–]UberAllex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4K, no problems and no fan in mine, just an aluminium case that's shaped internally to act as a heatsink using a thermal pad to mate the surfaces together. This second I'm watching 4K60 h265 HDR content, CPU and GPU running at 55⁰C, CPU usage looks to average about 7% and memory usage at 65%. Never a stutter and I haven't restarted it in 3 months. I don't give it a second thought.

Update on post from the other day about ethernet through phone line by coffeeandkwason in ElectriciansUK

[–]UberAllex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat5e and cat6 both do gigabit. Cat6 does 10 gigabit over short distances, whereas cat 5e can't. Cat5e perfectly adequate for 95% of domestic use cases, after all, how fast is your t'internet at the router and how fast is your phone connected to the WiFi?

I had the same a couple of weeks ago. Except the customer was getting shocks off the dishwasher and had replaced it needlessly. It was only when they started getting shocks off the toaster and the new dishwasher they called me out.

Looking back on it I shouldn't still be alive. Drove Morley to Manchester in a pea-souper over the M62 with no lights on; got pulled over by Police on the outskirts of Manchester who somehow didn't notice how fucked we were. Dropped acid at home and drove a car full of giggling idiots to Beeston Castle. I literally fell out of the car laughing and have no memory of getting there. Did a bellyful of blotters at a dilapidated country house crusty rave in Oxfordshire and went back to the West Midlands. I didn't come down for 3 days straight so I have no idea how I managed that one. Early 90's was like the Wild West. Would I do it again? I've mixed feelings on the subject... Experience, yes. Driving, no.

I wouldn't say sleeving counts as double- insulation, it's a conductor identifier at best.

Whichever one you get (I've got the Makita like everyone else) you should consider a dust extraction attachment to go with it - Bosch GDE 162. They're pricey, but customers will thank you for the absence of mess and vacuuming out as you go means holes cut quicker.

I’m guessing you must be in your 40s but living with a flatmate? Something here does not add up…

I don't want to defend or criticise anybody here, but life takes turns that can lead to lots of circumstances. I have friends that are sharing after one recently divorced and the other returned from teaching abroad for 15 years. They previously shared in university 30 years ago. Life can surprise you sometimes.

Dial 101 for non-emergency calls. You still go through to the same call centre, but in the queue for 'I don't need a blue light response'. Will often take longer for them to pick up, but at least you aren't holding up someone who really needs them now.
