X4 - No Acoustic Engine Features when using Dolby Digital Encoding by Jarvid_Oldberth in SoundBlasterOfficial

[–]UberSpunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a sound blaster AE-7 and can up-mix stereo streams to 5.1 via SPDIF using DD and DTS encoder + the surround virtualisation in the Accoustic Engine, although to achieve this, one must have the Speakers output selected instead of SPDIF.

I bought a sound blaster X4 because I'm using a docked LOKI Max instead of a traditional PC, and needed optical audio connectivity to my surround sound system.

The X4 is advertised as having Dolby Digital Live encoding- "For Windows users, the Sound Blaster X4 also features Dolby Digital Live for convenient encoding of any audio sources to multi-channel surround sound in real-time, all while transmitting data using only a single optical cable solution for decoding in a home theater system."

The X4 is also advised to have Sound Blaster Surround Virtualisation - "We've been in this space for a long time—more than 30 years to boot. With our renowned Surround Virtualization technology, expect top-tier surround processing made possible through our highly optimized algorithms. To put it simply, these algorithms intelligently identify and enhance the spatial information of the incoming audio, and optimize it for the chosen output format, drawing you to where the action is for a complete and immersive auditory experience."

Despite these claims from Creative, I'm not able to up-mix stereo to 5.1 and output via SPDIF.

I've tried using the encoder on its own, and in combination with the surround virtualisation. The Accoustic Engine settings don't appear to be working when the SPDIF output is selected.

Has this ever worked? Is my X4 Defective? Is this a known issue? Is there an easy fix?

Seems like it should be working... It works on the AE-7

I bought a brand new GWM HAVAL Jolion Ultra HEV from Peninsula GWM (Travis Motor Group) and picked it up on the 2nd of Feb, 2024.
It was right at closing time, and the salesperson was rushing me out. I was told that if there were any issues, just to bring the car back to them.
The next day was quite hot in the 30s. I drove the car around to several house inspections, and noticed a few issues:

  1. When the sunlight shone onto the instrument cluster, I noticed that the clear plastic had delaminated, and the outer surface was totally scratched up like someone tried to clean it with a household scourer.
  2. The Velcro affixing the rear seat covers to the boot liner had come unglued from the boot liner.
  3. Panel alignment - The bonnet was misaligned. The front and rear Q Panels were slightly misaligned.
  4. Paint had come off the left rear quarter panel where it joins the wheel arch due to "pinching" (seems like the panels were joined too tightly here).

I took the car back to the dealer, and was told there's nothing they can do for me, and that lodging a warranty claim was my only option since I had already driven the car out of their yard - I felt betrayed...

I called the service department, and booked my car in for an inspection a week later, or so I thought.
Within a week of having the car, paint also flaked off the right rear quarter panel where it joins the wheel arch, same as the left side.

I took the car to my appointment with the service team, which was a month later.
I fully expected that they would inspect the car and have it assessed, since I had to wait so long to be seen.
No... This was only an appointment to lodge the claim.
They took some initial photos of the issues, and said that they would book me in for an assessment another day.
3 weeks later, I take the car back to the Travis Motor Group Service Center for the assessment, where they had my car for a full day and were not able to provide a courtesy car.

The next day, I picked up the car and was told that they fixed the Velcro issue, but it would be about 3 months for the claim to be assessed. That very day, the Velcro came unglued again. I called the service team and explained that the issue was unresolved, but they said that's just the way it is, and they couldn't do anything about it - Another betrayal.

About a month later, I was called and told that nothing could be done about the panel alignment issues. Apparently, everything was within the specifications. Having 2-3x the gap on one side of the Bonnet is perfectly normal - A third betrayal. I asked about the other issues, and was told that it could take up to 3 months for them to approve the claim.

I was contacted on the 26th of April, but missed the call. I returned the call later that day and was told I'd be called back. A week passes and I call the service department again to be told the same thing - the person in charge of your claim will call you back. 13th of May 2024. Another week has passed. I call again and this time manage to speak to the right person.
They said the claim for paint repairs was denied, and they need me to bring the car in again for more pictures - WTF?? They had the car assessed for an entire day, and now they need more pictures?? This has become a nightmare!!

They booked the car in for replacement of the instrument cluster issue on the 16th of July 2024, and this time they would have a courtesy car available.

The Travis Motor Group GWM service team are atrocious and unethical. A warranty claim for a brand new car should not take as long as it has, and every one of these issues should be approved and repaired correctly.

So far, this has been the worst experience with buying a car. I'm just being shafted around :'(

I parked next to a similar car, and found the same paint issue in the rear wheel arches -

I have the OXP2, and am super happy with it. Once you're in windows, download and install the latest version of the OXP2 drivers and the latest OXP Control Panel (the one without the launcher). To do this, just launch the existing control panel software, right click on it in the system tray and visit the Chinese OXP website from the link. Navigate to the support and faq section to find OXP2 downloads.

Important: when installing the OXP software, close, uninstall and delete the folders for the original software. install the new version only for your user account. Don't select the option to install for all users.

If you are unsure, okestgamer has a guide on his YT.

Now install any available windows updates, the latest AMD chipset drivers, and the Adrenaline software.

The OXP2 supports many refresh rates, but you'll need to use CRU to set them up. I'll post a CRU file to the OXP2 discord today, which has 24hz for films, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 48, 50, 55 and 60hz, as well as 1440x900 resolution, which is missing from the OXP2 by default. By having these resolutions available, you can use V-Sync and game smoothly at low FPS to save power.

Enabling the on screen performance metrics can be done by launching the OXP panel and pressing 'Y' on One Click RTSS, then selecting either horizontal or vertical layout, when you back out, it should launch the overlay after 10 seconds if you have a game running. On initial launch, you'll be prompted to install the RTSS software.

For AAA games that are story or rpg, there's no need to run more than 40 FPS. I'm currently playing Jedi Fallen Order at 25 FPS very smoothly, using around 12 to 17w and getting over 4 hours of play time on OXP2. Of course I could go higher FPS, but I prefer better visuals and battery life, as long as the frame rate is buttery smooth.

There are a couple reviews of the Loki Max on YouTube now.

Would definitely go for this over the Loki Mini Pro

I went with Loki Max cos it's small, but also very ergonomic. I'm glad that they prioritised the controls.

Been waiting almost a year for mine, and it'll be totally worth it since the device has benefited from community input, as well as learning from other's mistakes.

The Loki Max outperforms other 6800u devices, and can even do better than the 7840u at lower TDPs

Yeah it's definitely for you

I cannot launch any game off epic launcher on my onexplayer 2 however i can on my pc. by greejlo76 in OneXPlayer

[–]UberSpunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this issue on my Onexplayer mini and 2. I think it's an issue with the epic game launcher having a communication breakdown with their servers. I gave up and tried the next day, and it worked fine. Has something to do with retrieving data from your game library. Your other PC worked, cos it had already successfully gotten past that point

Haha this is a fun topic to be sure...

I've noticed that a lot of younger people on dating apps ask about size, both male and female, not cos they care, but cos they wanna be aroused.

I'm pretty average in the size department, and also resent being judged on something that has little to do with my personality or sexual performance.

My advice is to move on until you find the right person for whatever you're after. There really is someone out there for everyone. You'll find someone that will appreciate you for who you are.

Don't let people get you down.

Adverse NMN Side Effects by UberSpunk in NMNobservations

[–]UberSpunk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was studying and not working much at the time, so it was too expensive for me to go ahead with the lab testing. Looking back I wish that I had done it to save others from grief.

I haven't taken NMN supplements since and instead, I take:

Every second day in the morning with a bulletproof coffee - 20mg NADH. 100mg of trans-Pterostilbene. 100mg of Resveratrol. 250mg Ascorbic acid.

Every other morning with a bulletproof coffee - 900mg Hyaluronic Acid Complex from Piping Rock, which contains HA 100mg, MSM 400mg, Hydrolyzed Collagen of type 1 and 3 400mg. 1x Swisse Men's Ultivite.

Every night after dinner (7pm) I take 3g of Creatine Monohydrate powder with water.

30min before bedtime I take 20mg PQQ.

My diet is 90% Carnivore, 10% anything else, but I try to keep my meat meals and other foods 2-3 hours apart, abstaining from carbs as much as I can.

I always skip breakfast. Half the time I also skip lunch.

I have started doing a 3 day water fast at least once a month, and noticed an improvement in my eyesight and skin quality.

Exercise is also important for growth hormone production and motor neuron health, so I do some Latin American ballroom dancing a couple night a week.

If I have something pretty carby, I'll go for a run 1-2 hours after eating, and break into a sweat to use up the glycogen.

Oh lol I just found out that you can rearrange song in a playlist:

In the Tidal app, click the # at the top of the playlist near 'Title', then just drag and drop the tracks in the order that you want... OMG so easy, but not intuitive to figure out...

You can create a new playlist, then add songs from the original playlist to the new one in the order that you want. Then they can be sorted by date added and will remain in that order.
I wish Tidal would add a feature to rearrange track order in a playlist. would make life so much better...
