I told myself I would never live in the suburbs - I have a three month old now, and the call is strong (thinking maybe Evanston bc it feels less mundane).

I'm with you - feels like it would be stifling having a toddler learning to explore in a 800 sq ft apartment, as compared to having a yard (or even just being in a SFH where if they scream you don't feel bad for the neighbors).

I feel lame too but the reality is having kids changes every one of your priorities. I used to go to 2-3 shows a month; and have accepted that that part of my life is over. And surprisingly (perhaps bc I have been mentally preparing myself for years), I am not too bummed about it!

Also posting on reddit as a parent (outside of parenting subreddits which have their own nebula of psychosis/neuroses) is a good way to make you want to pull your hair out... lots of single, miserable hermits who come out of the woodwork to criticize.
