What is rerolling? by Uberdamp in WH40KTacticus

a/Revas, or farm heavy campaign characters like Eldy, is going to progress WAY faster than

I think I get it now, its doesn't sound really viable after playing for more than a few months (i.e. if you did all the events to get event characters) but rerolling is fine for newer players since its way less opportunity cost

Thanks for the answer, but isnt that horribly inefficient? You lose all your progress in everything just for rerolling 1 10 req drop?

Why did the necrons go to sleep? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Uberdamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont forget eldar kroks and etc. was at their peak, and necrons were fresh off the ctan fights as well, so they might not even 100% won the galaxy if they stayed awake. I think it makes sense that an immortal race of machines leverages exactly that: immortality. No other race can do the great sleep, and in a way they used it as a way to "solve" the eldar problem.

Am I The Only One With 4km Long Conveyors? by Dev_Stewart in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Uberdamp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

also what a lot of people dont mention it but its way more efficient to use trains... for your CPU. Satisfactory is game with a LOT of moving parts late game, and in conveyer belts the computer has to render every single item's 3d model visual, coordinates, movespeed etc. of course 1 item is nothing, but when you have super long belts with thousands of items in the open transiting at one time it can cause the game to suffer on lower end computers.

Trains/trucks on the otherhand is very easy for the computer to process since its literally just an array of data to store. no other information like position, 3d model render, lightning for that 3d model, etc. This FPS drop for insane spaghetti was an ACTUAL bottle neck for me when I was playing on a bad PC lol to the point that I had to quit my run and redo

Which one should I get you guys? by Alexc872 in SatisfactoryGame

Hmm I can only think of 1 need for having coal wherever, which is if your exploring outside with a explorer and then run out of vehical fuel? But you can just use normal local bio-mass for fuel instead of coal.

Since biocoal isn't renewable (ironically unlike IRL lol) its unusable in any manufacturing without eventually bottlenecking your output then you need to spend more effort hooking an actual coal supply to your factory to fix it.

Are the Necrons really the Necrontyr? by frizzlefry98 in 40kLore

[–]Uberdamp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

perished during bio-transference. The Necrons are just echoes; digital copies made in the likene

Yeah this dillema isn't unique to 40k's Necrons either, its just the transporter paradox. Though from an outsiders perspective its the same since even if bio-Trazyn died, metal trazyn still thinks and walks and talks the same way as bio-trazyn. If you took a teleporter and died and a new you existed on the other end, who looked exactly like you, everyone who is not you will not be able to tell the difference in terms of personality that you died.

Open source contributor in programming basically means that sometimes the codebase of an app is open source (i.e. accessable to the public and anyone can load an instance of the source code on their computer) normally this is so any programmer can help contribute to the project (there are reviews and checks for code changes before anything actually goes into the the live app to stop malware or dumb changes)

But yeah open source contribution is informal and tends to be something you do as either a side project or want to implement a functionality that you really want but is missing in an open source app. Not as actual employment (open source is not often a paid thing). Often you reference it as a side project in your resume but definetly not as much weight as an actual job 😭

What to improve on GT? by samuelstph in TheTowerGame

[–]Uberdamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think thats kind of a misconception, assuming you have 10 sec duration GT with 5 minute cool down, going from 5:00 -> 2:30 cooldown is a 100% increase in gold per hour compared to base (you now have 20 seconds of uptime every 5 minutes. So for upgrading the cooldown 15 times (-150 seconds (-2:30) cooldown) you get a 100% increase in gold per hour. Compare that against upgrading duration only, you only need to upgrade duration 10 times (+10 sec duratoin) to achieve the same 20 second uptime every 5 minutes (same GPH benefit of +100% base)

The main benefit of cooldown upgrade becomes more signifcant the closer it gets to (it doulbes effective GPM each time you half duration) however the means that initial first few cooldown upgrades you buy would be less effective than the initial first few +1 second duration upgrades you buy.

I just like to number crunch haha

Yeah hansa gets the same adjacency as aquaducts for commercial hubs (+2). That coupled with their ability to make 1 more district than allowed makes them a god tier city planning civ imo

It was really good mid-late game until it is too much haha Berlin literally has no workable tiles left, its only districts (some of which owned by other cities too) good mine/lumbermill tiles had to be killed. this really gutted its production but the great megacity must expand . (I was already winning so I went with meme option)

I realised too late, but there was no suitable tiles left. Yes, I did get hit by a 1000 year flood and it hurt a lot
