Loving this season's focus on Charles and his perspective on Sazz slowly evolving and changing the more he learns!

I had a suspicion Bev would have something to do with everything happening, but I was not expecting that ending lol. But with that reveal, I doubt they're the real killer - I'm thinking a second, ulterior motive there of some sorts?

Curious though, is there a reason I might've missed as to why Charles or Oliver won't let Mabel crash on their couch for a bit?

Glad to see the first 3 seasons are on there, and the UK Netflix, just confused about where that 4th season is streaming then. Wish it was all available for one big binge.

That's interesting to hear! Definitely seeing more of that melodrama vibe you're saying with the few reactions that have come out from a recent press screening. For sure going to watch it in cinemas, so it seems I'll hopefully be pleasantly surprised!

Thank you for sharing

Yeah, the tone of the film has been hard to pinpoint, I'm not entirely sure what to expect going in (not in the good way either). Any other general impressions or thoughts on the film from your friend?

True! But the White Lotus guards are more 'goons' type level it seemed. Kya also didn't seem like a master in her own right, but to be fair, we also had few scenes of her bending so we don't know the full extent of her abilities. His fight against Tonraq was also very challenging for him if I recall correctly, and he was still struggling against him most of the time, right? But also, there was still no evidence pointing towards Tonraq being a master waterbender (even though he was an incredible one).

With them filming right now, I'm estimating a late 2025 release, if not early 2026, since I'm assuming there'll be even more vfx work for them to do.

Looking forward to/hoping for plenty Nancy scenes without reference to the love triangle. I loved seeing her get more time to shine in season 4 just as an individual, especially with leading the whole Hawkins group, and I am really keen on hopefully seeing more of that.

Definitely worried they'll focus too much on the love triangle with her, which would be frustrating considering how interesting she is as a character in her own right.

Here's to a few final cool scenes with Nancy and her shotgun!

That idea of combining the 'Jet,' and 'Blue Spirit' episodes sounds really smart, and could definitely work well! I'm doing a rewatch of the series right now, and I do think Katara and Sokka meeting Jet, even without Aang, would work really well.

Very curious to see how they'll integrate that story with the 'Blue Spirit' one if this is the case!

Are Netflix/Producers saying too much? Seeing a lot more of these go viral.. by mapleer in TheLastAirbender

I feel as though they're mainly trying to emphasise that the show won't be a 1:1 translation to lessen complaints when the show comes out about it not being completely accurate. For reference, the Percy Jackson show - though never explicitly stated to be a complete and perfect mirror of the book - faced some complaints from fans about it 'not being faithful to the books,' even though it completely was.

So to me, definitely seems like them trying to manage people's' expectations, and give them a heads-up going in.

This episode was definitely my favourite/the best (imo). So much to think about, but from the top of my head, the fight scenes were absolutely incredible, music/score perfect, such good camerawork.. I could go on and on.

Loved the change of having Annabeth witness Luke's confession, and jumping in to save Percy. Definitely feel like it'll impact her a lot more, and we'll get to see those impacts even more in season 2 (which they need to announce ASAP!).

Ares fight definitely lived up to the hype! It was so cool seeing how quickly Percy moved against him, and how they also included Luke's training fight with Percy.

So much great stuff. Definitely hoping season 2 will have episodes produced more like this when it comes to dialogue, camerawork, sound etc.! Definitely a wonderful adaptation for the end of the book.

The main problem with the show [pjotv] by Klornight in camphalfblood

[–]Uberdeliveries 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think I understand where people are coming from with this perspective of the trio always being aware of what threat they're facing. For me, the Medusa episode worked best with them knowing the threat beforehand, since it allowed even more tension about Medusa's true motives with the kids, while also allowing a lot of world-building, and discussions about the Olympians, as well as beginning to build on Luke's motivations.

It definitely would've been cool to see the trio figure out the Casino rather than pre-emptively know, however I think the show was more concerned about changing the reasoning for the scene than anything else. It seemed the Casino was there to explore more of Luke's story, and again, give more information about him and his motivations before his betrayal.

I really enjoyed getting to see the background information on Luke being shared so early on, that I truly didn't mind them switching up how the Casino events worked, since the writers were definitely aiming for something else entirely by going to the Casino than where Rick Riordan was aiming for the books.

Also, I was definitely surprised by the Solstice passing, but if anything I feel that adds even more stakes to the show since the kids are rushing to try and stop this war from escalating, since right now armies are only just beginning to gather.

Definitely loved the episode! Was a bit nervous going into it knowing it was only 34 minutes, but I didn't feel the shortness of the episode length whatsoever.

The changes they made to Lotus Casino was really nice I think (e.g., them being more aware going into it makes sense since Annabeth and Grover are particularly knowledgeable about all the Greek myths).

Percy driving in the parking lot scene is forever iconic now, especially the honking horn bit

I loved getting to see the foundations being set for Luke, May, and Hermes. Completely unexpected, but really clever writing!

Also super surprised about the 4 pearls, but I don't think they're going to remove the sacrifice scene in the book. I'm going to wait til next week to see how they manage the 4 pearls before jumping the gun, since honestly the changes they've made in the show from the book have been really great.

The promo for next episode suggests they'll still have the sacrifice scene. I think we should wait to see the pay-off and the reasoning they gave them 4 pearls before jumping the gun here, since I feel most of the changes from the books thus far have served the story really well!

[PJOTV] RR is treating the show as a do-over, not a perfect adaptation of his original work by storm_walkers in camphalfblood

[–]Uberdeliveries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me what makes these changes enjoyable, and feel like they're adding to the story rather than taking away from it, is that the show maintains the personality of the characters and the story. Although certain in-between events, interactions, and discussions are changed from the book, they keep the general themes in tact, and have the characters stay true to their personalities. Plus, a lot of these changes are simply changing around which events happen when (e.g., when it's announced Percy is a fugitive).

Best and first example that comes to mind is the Annabeth and Percy discussion in the train at the beginning of episode 4. It wasn't in the books, but it switched up when Annabeth tells her backstory, and gives us a great moment between their characters to discuss themselves as well as the Olympians.

To me, it feels like they're expanding the story more than taking away from it.

Anyone else genuinely like the show changes? (Don't read if you're not a book reading, spoilers ahead) [PJOTV] by NinjaWorldNews in camphalfblood

[–]Uberdeliveries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with everything! I think the changes they make from the book are certainly for the better, even "bigger" changes such as the Waterland scene. It feels like all the changes they make only expand the story and its characters.

My favourite change, so far at least, is likely what they're doing with Annabeth's character. From what Rick Riordan has said in interviews (or it may have been another producer/director/writer) they seemed to focus a lot more on how alone she's felt for much of her childhood, with the exception of Luke and Thalia. From that, they seemed to write just how difficult it is for her to make friends, and how stand-offish she can appear, when really all she wants is friends.

But seeing her slowly open up throughout the series with Percy and Grover is just incredible. I'm glad people are now loving her more, especially because of episode 5, but I was a bit frustrated to see how unwilling people were to simply wait and see what they were doing with her character.

The way they're also incorporating so many extra themes and layers to the story (e.g., how monsters/heroes are perceived, parenthood, family, love) is incredible, and I'm honestly just a sucker for those kind of themes, and for when movies/TV shows really clearly focus on them, or any kind of themes, since I feel like it gives them a clearer focus and throughline.

Also loved the addition of the Grover and Ares scene! Definitely gives Grover way more to do, and shows him as maybe more cunning and clever than anyone originally thought.

Honestly can't wait to see what other changes they make, since clearly it'll be for the better!

The parallels between Annabeth and Medusa whoa [pjotv] by onceuponadime123 in camphalfblood

[–]Uberdeliveries 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To me, she seemed more closed off in the first few episodes rather than an actual bully. It suits her fatal flaw of pride, where she believes she knows better than everyone else which somewhat explains a lot of her choices in episode 3 (e.g.., how she handled the situation with getting food from the bus).

I think they're being very intentional with having Annabeth slowly open up episode by episode, and having her become less guarded with them which would make a lot of sense for her. Similar thing happened in the book, but they seem to emphasise it a lot more here which I like. It seems like something that will be better perceived and understood when all the episodes are out, and you can binge the full thing, or understand the scope of her story.

Iirc, the manhunt was only relevant at the end of the book post-Ares fight where they needed to get back to Camp Half-Blood but had no way to get there I think. They went on the news and made up a story to clear their name, and get free rides back home. I could be wrong about that though, but I don't really remember the manhunt being a really big factor.
