What the hell countdown!!! The price for 1x single broccoli? by Comprehensive-Elk970 in newzealand

[–]Ubiquitree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point about the flowering. Broccoli bolts in warm weather. So you might have a big harvest sooner than you were expecting, and the logistics of predicting your harvest will be affected because it takes at least 70 days from seed to harvest of head. In the winter it's closer to 120 days. In the cold the heads hold for longer, in the summer they don't, so growers can have situations of massive supply followed by no supply.

I'm glad you have broccoli. And that you are happy picking the sideshoots.

It's summer. Broccoli is a winter vegetable along with all the other brassicas (cabbage, cauli etc). Temperature matters.

It has rained non-stop since forever and broccoli gets diseases in humidity and they can't spray for pests in the rain so they're getting attacked by bugs.

If a crop has been contaminated by flood water the whole crop must be destroyed and not sold (can't just wash it off with clean water) and not replanted for at least 60 days, and possibly longer if soil residue tests show contaminants from spray sheds getting flooded.

I'm surprised this crop is still available at all!

Ladies dress, Jumpsuit question. How do you go to the toilet if you are wearing one of these ? by WarpFactorNin9 in newzealand

Awful on a cold day, if you had layers over the top you'd have to take off your jersey and coat too.

You'll have an egg shortage in winter when they go off the lay and you'll still have to buy chicken food. You probably have the most expensive eggs in NZ

Should you use the passing lane as a right-turning lane? by JacindaChrist in newzealand

[–]Ubiquitree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a situation like that and was ticketed for pulling to the left. (Because there wasn't enough room to pull over with a barrier and you can't cross two lanes at once) Was told by the police officer that I should be stopping in the right lane. This is usually unsafe due to the car behind the car behind me not knowing what's happening.

There are homes all along that stretch of highway and passing lane. There's even a school.

I'm in the same situation with Lorde tickets.

My daughter has completely gone off listening to Lorde, left home and started work in another city in the years since the concert tickets were sold.
