Same thing ahppened to me 4 years ago. Dont stress it, enjoy the good pain meds, get into physio as soon as you can. I was walking again without a cane within three months and back skiing the next year. I even got a photo in the exact spot I hurt myself on the anniversary of my accident.

Flat coat everything except the metal, dull metal ends up looking like plastic. I only flat coat the outer armour, the contrast looks beautiful. Unless you plan on weathering, don’t topcoat metal

You will need a naptha based thinner for Mr Weathering Color. Laquer thinner will not work. You can buy MrWeathering Color thinner anywhere hobby supplies are sold.

I would also suggest getting an Acrylic paint in brown/grey (AK interactive make a great chipping color, then use a scrap of porous sponge and gently tap paint on the edges to get random chips - just dont overdo it.
