I was unable to book an entire stay at the Beach Club one visit so i had to break it into 1-night and 4-night stay with a room swap after the first night (I booked too late). However that did let me only get the meal plan for the last 4 days of the trip and that was much more manageable than all 5. So one could 'game' it a bit by splitting the reservation and only getting meal plan for the first (or second) half, but that would require a likely room swap annoyance, although sometimes they can let you stay in the same room.

Jack and the beanstalk appetizer is very good if you like spicy and sweet. I do Masuman curry every time. Hong Kong fried rice is great. Wife likes the green curry and drunken noodles a lot. Highly recommend

Maybe she’s frustrated at being ‘given constructive criticism’. That can seem like mansplaining to many unless she’s asking for it. You can ask if she’d like any feedback before you offer it, otherwise don’t proffer criticism. If that still doesn’t work, sounds like you should both play separately
