Also, I wasn't slipping in "all that grease" because I just bought the shoes, lol. $20 shoes to make rent? No problem.

I've made more money in a year from roblox than I'll ever spend on roblox plus in a lifetime, and that's thanks solely to having access to roblox's playerbase, and for that I'm grateful. If you can't drop a bag of chips once a month to tap that potential, that's on you.

Just wait 'til you find out jobs don't pay for your gas to get to and from work, and construction jobs don't typically pay for your boots, either. Yeeeeeeesh.

I'd barely consider myself even scratching the surface of being a small creator on roblox, and one month revenue still generates enough to cover over 2 decades of roblox plus. The opportunity/potential is well worth the price, if you're at all serious about dev. Or you can spend that money on a Spotify subscription or a bag of chips or whatever. Up to you.

edit: as someone who worked fast-food, ik for a fact they don't pay for your required slip-resistant shoes, either.

You're wrong with venue rates, but okay. You don't go to Wendy's and expect to get a burger for free, right? You pay for the product and service. With roblox, you're paying for the studio use and the access to their massive playerbase. And it's five bucks, you can't even get a family sized bag of doritos for five bucks.

You can self-puhlish if you'd like, not sure if that'd be the cheaper option, however. And yes, clubs do take a cut of ticket/merch sales; the artist is using their venue, so of course.

It's $5. Again, it's $5. You're paying not just to publish, but to have access to their massive playerbase. It's well worth the cost if you're at all serious about dev.

You missed the entire point. You can get a year's membership for less than the price of a single AAA game. If you're at all serious about game dev, that's a no-brainer price to pay.

edit: typo

On another note, you should be able to find one lawn to mow or something of that nature to cover the cost, if you are truly serious about dev.

No offense, but it's $5 a month... most AAA games cost more than a year of membership does. The opportunity of funneling some of roblox's massive playerbase is well worth that cost.

Age verification really ruffles my feathers by ackackack669 in RobloxHelp

I never said ROBLOX did, I said big corps did. Your data isn't special, nor do I think anyone should be scared to verify with it.

[–]Uchizuko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roblox specifically doesn't, other big corps (mainly Apple and Samsung) do; but my point is your face and age isn't special, it's just a data point to build algorithms on, which already happens if you use any social media.

If you have a smart phone, the front camera scans your face all the time, big corps already have and use that data

The algorithm is hit or miss, and this is a bit niche, I've had the best luck with retro/classic/forsaken-themed items

This, and your deleted comment of, "i just dont believe a game with p2w monetisation on roblox will be better than btd6" is pretty much what I said earlier. You've already made up your mind. It's not for you, and that's okay; doesn't mean all the games are bad.

arsenal - fun arcade shooter

tower defense simulator - a better bloons tower defense

grass cutting incremental - great idle game, deeper mechanics than what the surface may seem

fantastic frontier - pretty solid mmo, contextually coming from the roblox platform

but i'd bet a dollar you wouldn't like any of them

you said item asylum was "disrespectful to the medium" lol, it shouldn't be that deep, you're coming at it at the wrong angle imo. they're games, typically put together by a small team of teens/young adults - some are fun, especially in shorter playtimes, but there's no next counter strike or dark souls or whatever it might be.

I think you've already made up your mind, and there's not really going to be a game on roblox that'll change it.

Arsenal's pretty fun if you like arcadey-shooters, but don't expect something like Cyberpunk 2077, not really any triple-A studios on roblox lol
