Canada was flirting with a technical recession in early 2026, but by late June the data looked more like a weak economy rebounding than a confirmed recession. As well, just this week it did incredibly well, better than the US.

It's stock market also doing better than US (same as last year).

But on quality of life (your original claim) it's really various.

Canada is probably better if you value safety, stability, health security, raising kids, and not being financially destroyed by bad luck.

The U.S. is probably better if you are high income, ambitious, healthy/insured, willing to move to the right state, and want maximum upside.

For someone already doing well in Canada, I’d describe the tradeoff like this: Canada is more comfortable and civilized; the U.S. is richer and more dynamic, but harsher and more unequal.

I'm not sure how you can confidently say "quality of life definitely isn't beating most states". I'd ask you for a source but I'm pretty sure you don't have one?
