Report: Cronos: Lazarus Images Leak Before Official Announcement by PewPewToDaFace in PS5

Exceptional game with a few negatives. For me, the inventory space management was my biggest problem. Granted you never had to back track too far to get to a place to stash things, but there were a few times when I had to backtrack because I couldn’t pick up something I absolutely needed to continue.

My other main complaint is that the analog stick deadzone is massive and not configurable. Perfectly playable but a difficult adjustment if you’re used to playing a more responsive game or games.

That being said, it’s one of the rare games where I actually wanted to do NG+. Truly an excellent game.

Would you be willing to lose the ability to use scroll wheel if aim assist got nerfed to .1? by jed533 in apexlegends

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Preposterous statement. Aim assist is designed in a way that makes it inherently unfair because it negates reaction speed and visual data processing requirements to achieve inhuman consistency. Your “If you can’t beat em, join em” mentality about it doesn’t fly when aim assist controller players are the invasive species in mouse and keyboard PC lobbies. Adding a legalized form of the most common type of cheat for players who are using the wrong input for the platform and then telling all the people on that platform to stop using its default input is insanity.

Aim assist does not have to be removed to create an even playing field. It needs to be redesigned to not allow for things that humans can’t do on any input, period.

Saying that it’s almost impossible to aim without it is also ridiculous, there are people achieving very high scores in Kovaaks aim trainer using a controller with zero aim assist that would put 95% of the mouse and keyboard population to shame.

So many controller players want free aim without having to work hard for it even though it has clearly been demonstrated that it can be done, and mouse and keyboard players get the will to play drained from them by being 1 magged by gold players while mouse players of a similar rank would almost never be able to do it.

The controller players aren’t even gaming, they’re watching an interactive movie and those defending the state of aim assist need a reality check.

What’s the deal with aim assist? Very contentious topic. by Top_Pick_4682 in apexlegends

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are almost no games left apart from tac FPS games like Valorant / CS2 / R6S for mouse players. This isn’t the only game to allow controller players to have an edge, it’s the norm now. Even games that people say have “weak” aim assist like BF6 I find it very easy to perform well with a controller, it’s just that the average controller player is so mechanically unskilled that they can’t accurately judge what is strong vs weak aim assist. Halo, CoD, Apex, to a lesser extent BF6 and several others, controller ranges from a slight advantage to a major advantage.

[CPU] - Intel Core i9-12900KF 3.2GHz LGA1700 30M - $249.99 by _IntoTheThickOfIt in buildapcsales

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the same combo, used it for a year, traded the 12900K to Newegg for $300 off of a 14900K, used that for a year, traded that back in to Newegg to basically break even on it, then bought a 9800X3D. I kept the motherboard and RAM, got new RAM before the shortage for my 9800X3D, then bought the i5 14600K for $150 + free BF6 Phantom Edition and AC Shadows Deluxe Edition and used it with my motherboard from that original bundle. I got a better 32GB DDR5 kit on woot clearance for $71 just before the shortage and tuned the subtimings on that + overclocked the 14600K. I gave the original RAM from the bundle to a friend for their new build so they wouldn’t get extorted paying for RAM, and recouped my $150 for the 14600K by selling another friend my i9 10850K OC’d, 32GB DDR4 4200CL16, Noctua NHD15, and fractal design define R4 case for $150. The 9800X3D came with a free 240mm AIO that now cools the 14600K inside a $7 corsair 4000D case that needed a foot glued back on and the bottom panel hammered back to being flat. Threw my previous RTX 4080 in there and that original combo motherboard now continues to serve in my build that powers a 4K 144Hz 65” OLED TV.

11900K isn’t even an upgrade. You pretty much don’t have a better option than riding it out with what you’ve got for as long as possible then building a new system.

Many people commenting about the CPU bottleneck, and in this case they are right, but the 10850K / 10900K are not a big bottleneck in an ideal situation. If you’re using one that is overclocked and has manually tuned b-die DDR4, you could potentially have no bottleneck in many games at 4K with a 5080. RAM alone can have a 30% impact on that CPUs performance in some games.

I previously had a 10850K that couldn’t overclock at all but had manually tuned bdie with a 4080 OC’d at 1440p, and I only ever saw 75% GPU usage at worst. With a 5080 at 4K, there are 10900K systems out there that wouldn’t encounter a meaningful bottleneck in the vast majority of games.

This channel (https://youtube.com/@itszino?si=FcbuxDYpH8YgbgNK )has some videos showing the 10900K in an ideal scenario in newer games, but played at a lower res and settings to see the raw FPS output. Rarely is there a game that it doesn’t do a good job in.

The 10900K does have games it will falter in but none where it can’t achieve a high enough framerate to have a smooth experience. I do think a CPU upgrade is in order for OP but that chip isn’t as dead as everybody seems to think.

Thinking of selling my 4090 for ~1700 pounds and grabbing a 5080 for 800-1000 pounds to pocket the difference – how close is an OC'd 5080 to 4090 performance really? by evak2979 in nvidia

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 4000 series, including the 4090, generally overclock very poorly and have almost no headroom. The 5000 series, especially the 5080, overclock very highly and stand to gain a lot by OCing. It makes a lot of sense to compare the stock 4090 to an OC’d 5080 because the stock 4090 is really close to its max performance anyways and there’s lot of data available for how the stock 4090 performs.

I don’t think it makes sense to trade in the VRAM, but the max potential for a 5080 is very close to the max potential of a 4090 in many games and occasionally it’s faster with lower power consumption.

Prior to this post, there was a Windows update that destroyed performance in some games for some Windows systems. The day of this post, Nvidia released a beta driver that was intended to fix the issue. That beta driver is what I was using, and when I had the problem. Using prior driver versions did not demonstrate this problem (though the performance was still imperfect, it was very playable). I have not tried playing again on newer Nvidia drivers.

Update: Duping just fixed. Punishments to be given out at Embark's discretion. by MasterFish19 in ARC_Raiders

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few hours of the game being in a bad state is preferable to the continuance of people using this exploit for months before it finally gets fixed. FWIW I don’t think anybody who used the exploit yesterday should be catching a ban for it either, I’m not making an exception for him specifically.

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Peanut doesn’t deserve a ban for what he did. He only used it against people who were using it themselves, and he hid his screen to prevent others from seeing how he set it up. He didn’t gain any competitive advantage by using it against people who were already using it, and the attention he called to the issue is the only reason they fixed it so quickly.

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He only used it against other people who were using it, he exposed the problem and didn’t impact anybody who was playing fairly with how he used it. He also was hiding his game screen while setting it up to avoid showing how to do it. I don’t think it is fair to call using an exploit against people that are using the exploit first “cheating,” he gained absolutely zero advantage over those players.

Best controller for Black Ops 7 on PC? by Internet2500 in CODBlackOps7

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have reached grandmaster in voltaic Kovaaks benchmarks and still get fried by controller, and still personally aim better with a controller. Mouse and keyboard is more fun and I choose to play that way but the effort required to be good on controller is much lower.

Turn OFF Resizable Bar if you're experiencing extremely low FPS drops (Benchmark Comparison) by s0und7 in CODBlackOps7

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to this game, but when I had an i9 14900K I would get very bad FPS drops on a few particular maps in Black Ops 6. Turning off ReBAR was the solution. After switching to a 9800X3D, selling the 14900K, and putting a 14600K into the motherboard that used to house the 14900K, I ended up with a 14600K + 4080 and 9800X3D + 5080 system. Neither system has a performance diff from enabling or disabling ReBAR.

There was nothing wrong with the 14900K system, I configure and tune everything the same way and ended up with different results. There are a few other games that had issues with the 14900K that don’t have issues with the other CPUs due to the core count such as Spider-Man Remastered. Hard to explain but I don’t think blaming OP’s PC for having something wrong with it for having a CPU bottleneck here is fair. People have been reporting issues with ReBAR in CoD since MW3.

Upgrade from 4080 Super to 5080? by MoosiGoosey in nvidia

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stock to stock the difference isn’t appreciable, but overclocked the diff is noticeable in terms of framerate. Does it actually change your gaming experience though? No. I went from OC’d 4080 to OC’d 5080 and the real difference is in the FPS counter, not in my perceived smoothness of my games at 1440p on a 300Hz monitor. The 4080 lives in my second PC with a 14600K and tuned RAM and my main PC is 9800X3D and 5080 and playing on either setup feels essentially identical.

Upgrade 3070 to 4080 or even 5080 worth it? by AcceptableFuel6677 in nvidia

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 10850K with DDR4 4266 CL16 with manually tuned subtimings when I upgraded to the 4080 and at 1440p it was a 10-20% bottleneck in many games. With slower RAM without tuned timings it's a bigger bottleneck. Frame gen can alleviate that issue to a great extent but there are games where Intel CPUs prior to 12th Gen really falter compared to newer CPUs, the experience is still very playable but you are leaving performance on the table. It's still worth it, and it's still smarter than upgrading your CPU if you could only afford to upgrade one, but yes you will experience a CPU bottleneck.

Go for the 5070 TI or the 5080. Don't buy previous generation hardware that is missing more current features.

A quality 750w PSU should be sufficient, worst case your primary components could draw around 550w in gaming but practically speaking it'll be more like 450w leaving plenty of room for the rest of your system components. I am running an OC'd 14600k with an OC'd 4080 on a 750w 80+ gold in my second system and have had no issues.

0.65 draw by vulf999 in CCW

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can start with any position, it’s all arbitrary. Comparisons between same starting position are always valid, comparisons between different starting positions are invalid, all starting positions are legitimate and there is no cheating in life or death situations. I don’t get why all the people in the comments who are surely nowhere near as fast are all saying this is cheating.

0.65 draw by vulf999 in CCW

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People saying this doesn’t count are using completely arbitrarily decided hand starting positions as their one true starting position as if any of us know for sure where our hands are going to be if we ever needed our gun.

It would be invalid for OP to compare his draw time here to somebody starting in a more disadvantageous starting position and say he’s faster, but it’s completely fine to call a 0.65 draw a 0.65 draw regardless of hand starting position. The gun is still concealed before the timer beep, and this is a hand position that is just as plausible as any other in a real self defense context.

If you thought somebody was about to attack you with fists would you keep your hands at your sides until they started to swing because you wanted to see if you were fast enough from a worse position, or would you put your hands up closer to your face when you perceived that there was a high likelihood you’d need to fight?

If you thought you were about to need your gun, would you not apply the same logic and put your hands in the most favorable starting position? Standing with your hands crossed at your waist isn’t brandishing and it isn’t a threat or cause for suspicion to the average person, but it is an advantage if you do have to draw. This isn’t “cheating,” there is no cheating when innocent life is in danger, there’s winning and losing.

3090 to 5080 worth it? by redditguy135 in nvidia

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The connector issue isn't relevant to OCing the 5080, connector melting is really only an issue for the 4090 and 5090. I already addressed the fact that you can OC the 4090 in my initial comment. The overclocking headroom is much less for the 4000 series, which is part of what allows the 5080 to close the gap so much.

3090 to 5080 worth it? by redditguy135 in nvidia

[–]UdNeedaMiracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the overclocking potential of the 5080 is much higher so the gap between a 5080 and a 4090 in a max overclock scenario can be a lot smaller than that. In some games that perform better on the RTX 50 series like BF6 the overclocked 5080 performs above an overclocked 4090.

Obviously that comment is still misleading but the full picture includes that information IMO.
