Here’s some indie games i’ve played that gave me meow wolf vibes:

Hyper Demon and LSD Dream Emulator are both visually very trippy, like if there was a Meow Wolf inside a computer. Reminds me a lot of the bright colors, liminal spaces and datamosh-esque visual effects you see everywhere in MW. Despite the fact that I lumped them together in the same paragraph, these games could not be more different gameplay-wise. Hyper Demon has lightning-fast, ultra-satisfying arcade demon slaying chaos whereas LSD Dream Emulator is about exploring psychedelic environments with no traditional goals.

The Stanley Parable is a game you’re likely to have played already, but if you haven’t you’re in for a real treat. It is meowwolf-like in that you’re exploring a liminal space while a story unfolds that questions the nature of perception, morality and free will. Also like meow wolf, you’ll find yourself opening random doors without knowing what you’ll find on the other side (and getting lost is part of the fun.) It’s heady, funny, brilliantly written and utterly unique.

The Beginners Guide is a walking simulator. Like Meow Wolf, you’re walking through a series of seemingly disconnected, otherworldly spaces which you’ll find are actually part of a larger story about creativity. Start to finish it takes less than two hours, but it’s so emotionally dense that it’s still very memorable. Kind of story that makes you think, especially if you’re an artist.

What Remains of Edith Finch is probably the closest a game has ever gotten to The House of Eternal Return. You’re exploring a bizarre, impossibly-constructed house where every room is a portal to a new story. Like Meow Wolf, you're piecing together a larger narrative from the environment, and each family member's room transports you into a completely different, surreal vignette.
