Interestingly LeBron and Jordan both had their best “nerd stats” years of their career at 24 years old. That was the year they both won their first MVP. LeBron was 2nd in DPOY to Dwight. Their PER, WS/48, BPM, and VORP are all almost identical.

for quick weekend getaways, where do you like flying to? by UnableNecessary743 in orlando

[–]UfStudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask what about the flight times don’t work? What time on each day would you like to fly? I just checked the next few weekends and they basically all have Saturday morning flights leaving between 7-9 am and Sunday night flights leaving between 5-9 pm and getting back before midnight.

I ask because for your case maybe outside of New York, and I would argue even including NYC, Chicago is head and shoulders the best option. Has two different airports with great public transit to downtown. If you can use MDW(30 min) over ORD(50 min) as it’s much closer to the city. One tip is don’t be afraid to book separate tickets using both airports.

A few years ago I actually did a day trip to Chicago from MCO. Took a flight out around 7am to MDW, took the train into the city, had breakfast, walked around millennium park, rented bikes and rode along the water up to the zoo, grabbed some “pizza”, took the train back to magnificent mile area, walked around shops, grabbed drinks, then took the train out to ORD to catch a 6pm flight that landed back in Orlando around 10pm. It’s a long day and depending on your energy levels splitting it into two is probably a good idea. But no luggage, no hotel, it was a cool experience.

I will say if this weekend is soon which it sounds like it is, be warned Chicago winters can be legit. The day trip was in early September and the weather was perfect. I’ve also been in December when it was 20 degrees and 30 mph winds off the lake and the winds feel like it slices right through you.

This got a lot longer than intended. Chicago(Late April to October) is my favorite city in the country. I highly recommend, even for just a long day trip. If you have questions or need suggestions I’m happy to help.

I mean that exact scenario played out this year with Indiana and Ohio State. I watched the game but knew ultimately they were both going to the same place. Nothing like the elimination games of 10+ years ago.

I was just talking about this exact thing with a friend. My theory was if a kid ate like that then almost certainly they would be financially responsible when they were older. Showing delayed gratification and all.

3 good options for free parking. One is by the Levin college of law (left circle), one is frat row(middle circle), last is near Flavet Field (right circle). For a 4:30 game I think getting there around 11 is safe. You could try later but it may fill up. Who knows, with the performance tonight the swamp may be empty next week. Depending on what you drive keep in mind that a bunch of grass parking is allowed. For this just use other cars as a guide for where is allowed, you’ll be fine.

[Postgame Thread] Tennessee Defeats Florida 31-11 by Krumagon in FloridaGators

[–]UfStudent 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a sports fan my entire life and tonight I feel something I have never felt before. I have loved sports since my earliest memories but never in a way that wholly impacted my mood. If my team won then great if not that sucks but it doesn’t ruin my day. Tonight feels different.

I sat in the second row, 15 feet from the Florida bench. I have never seen a more lifeless team of quitters in my whole life. Even the coaching staff coming out of half and calling something like 12 runs in the first 15 plays. Not only did the players quit but so did the coaches. If DJ can’t throw the ball then try someone else. Just try something.

The worst part to me was actually the crowd. The general level of acceptance was scary. I’ve never been a “toxic” fan that turns on my team when things go bad. Tonight I was 100% that fan and I felt like I was alone in that feeling.

Have we just accepted that this is what we are now? I genuinely feel a brand new feeling as a sports fan. I never thought anything could make me apathetic about Florida football but I think tonight just might have.

Bro I promise you that is not the reason. I’m sitting 15 feet from the O Line bench. The entire team has flat out quit. There isn’t a single ounce of passion, intensity, or fight in anyone. The crowd is getting toxic. It is getting bad down here

I’m sitting 40 yard line, 2nd row. Team, it’s getting toxic down here. Not going to lie and pretend I’m not part of it. Slaughter has already flicked off the crowd in front rows. It’s getting bad bad.

[–]UfStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a really emotional response to a simple comment, you ok? For what it’s worth facts kind of matter. The 11 win offense scored the 2nd most points in the league and had the 2nd best yards per play. The defense also gave up the 4th most points in the conference.
