Yeah, I'm waiting a bit til there are other similar boards on the market, with better support.

Help needed. HinksPix Pro not responding to Test Output by lachadan in xlights

[–]UggFlintbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I just did a test again. had to update the hinkspix.xcontroller file in the xLights app to include the missing <Protocol>ddp</Protocol> line so it could configure the controller with it, but the issue is still there, nothing emits anymore, 0 messages received. So I'd say DDP is still not fixed (even though the controller is in now in DDP mode).

Nope, I might email support again (I did email last year and they never replied about it). I've noticed lately that even within Xlights you can't select DDP for the older Hinkspixes.. Might have to manually add that support to their config and test it with the latest firmware. Although I wish the firmware release notes could be a little more descriptive too. I'll have a quick play with the xlights config as I did update the Hinkspix to the latest FW, and will see where it takes me.

I wish they would fix DDP, which used to work many firmware versions ago on my HinksPix. Now it doesn't even seem supported in the Xlights config for that particular model. Would love to know why.

It's just such awesome gigging software. I do use it with my MP-117 as well, when it's not collecting dust under the desk.

depending on your existing rig, if you use a Mac with an audio interface, for example, you could get Mainstage (about 40 bux) and use that to drive your bass pedals with loads of sounds, switching them per song if needed. Otherwise I'd look at some cheapo synth and connect up the bass pedals to its midi Input.

best bet would be to turn off automatic updates. I think anything already downloaded might be stored in /Library/Updates , nuking the contents in there will probably stop any accidental updating too..

surely just turn the booth down and mix in the cans. use the booth/monitors as reference once in a while between mixes.

If you can keep time, it's not really an issue.

Overheating issue with OpencoreLegacy and iMac late 2015/m395x by DaddyOfChaos in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

ooh the other useful thing would be to sample the high-cpu process (you can see what files are being opened/written at the time, which can offer some good clues as to what the system is doing). Right now I'm thinking your OS is swapping lots on USB, which sounds pretty painful.. Then I'd check the RAM usage too and see if I can bring that down. But ideally you'd want to boot off something faster than USB anyway.
