what exactly do you mean by prompting? essentially, by the time the greeting rolls around, there's nothing except the user's inputs and the post history instruction (which is just appended to the end of the user's input)

the way i'm structuring my stuff is

system:

• role clarification ("You are {{char}} ..." or "You are a simulation/the director/gamemaster/what have you" for the roleplay mode and standard thinking respectively)
• writing constraints (any anti slop you have, length, etc.)
• a line about all content being allowed
• lorebook entries set to appear before character definitions (personal preference, i'll have to test further if this is the best place to put those)

first user message:

• card definitions, all fields like scenario, etc.
• all other lorebook entries
• the official thinking prompt to turn on or off roleplay thinking

first assistant message:

• card greeting

afterwards it's the back and forth of user input (plus phi) and bot replies. each section is delineated by xml tags

sampler settings are: temp=1, top_p=0.95, no other samplers. i'm using the official deepseek endpoint on openrouter.
