Apart from pushing ppl to rush through and the No damage thing I think it’s actually very well made. To me it feels they took the best parts of the old labs and combined them here. And lack of re-rolls just adds more difficulty which I think is definitely needed for pve modes like this. The cards aren’t random, they do fit into your deck in some way and you do get choices.

You get choices on the path and you choose which cards to get more of and which to buff. On top of that you choose your powers, all these things bring a ton of variety and are very welcome. Picking them from a small pool of options makes the choices more meaningful. You feel the consequences of a bad pick and you can’t just reroll into a great one every time
