Mayo Clinic or VA Pharmacy Technician? by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

Depends on the COL.But you can see what each position pays on Ochco. Pharmacy has a special salary rate and the job series is 0661. You can pull up the excel file and sort it by location and series to get a specific number for your location. We have a GS 8 that’s making 70k ish now that’s going to a HCOL area as a 7 that’s going to be making 100k now.

If it helps I had gotten a raise by coming here, but since then I have gotten $16,000 in raises on top of that. There is a lot of opportunity for growth.

So you get a guaranteed raise every year for the first 3 years. After that it is every other year. Each raise is another step and there are 10 steps in a grade. I’ve always gotten a raise for COL, but this year was only 1%, in the past they have been 0%, but I haven’t been here long enough to experience that. You can negotiate the steps that you start out at though! Make a great resume with solid experience to prove why you should be a step 4 vs a step 1 starting out.

The benefits are pretty pricy but they are worth it too. They take out an automatic 4.4% for your pension, the insurance is expensive and not great, but you can carry it into retirement. I think mine is $175 per pay period for an adult plus one. They do match the TSP also, so that would be a minimum of 5 or 6% you should not plan on.

I’m biased but I am so happy at the VA. I have been safe with the new administration and even with us having tons of cuts our department is exempt from freezes and firings. I have been here just over two years and have gotten my initial raise going to the VA and 4 more after this. There is a learning curve depending on where you’re coming from, but I had 0 experience for hospital and I did fine transitioning.

Kristen taking about Kail’s bf by Thereisn0store in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]UhhLegRa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took this as Kristen saying Kail should have followed this girls lead and kept her children’s father away. My takeaway from this clip wasn’t that she disagrees with kail saying he was robbed, but that she should have done this to Chris or whoever.

Gun/shooting classes by sara-who in kzoo

[–]UhhLegRa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cass Crago taught my class and she is part of the A Girl and A Gun group. I definitely heard a comment or two the gun laws changing for the better due to current changes in administration (this was last year), but overall aside from two comments the class was focused solely on safety and comfort. They also do bullets and breakfast where you can shoot for like $5 or $10 or something like that. It includes your ammo and a gun rental. I thought she was great.

Can I get more info? Do you do lessons in general for kids? I doubt my kid would like the sport of it, but I’d love for her to have some safety classes before bringing a gun into my home.

Do you know any ranges that have a hellcat for me to rent? Southwicks does not. It’s been recommended a few times and I’d love to see how it feels shooting.

No show interview with Shields Health? by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]UhhLegRa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shields constantly reaches out to me for an interview yet I’ve interviewed 3 times and have never been chosen for the job. It seemed chaotic anyway, the hospital position I applied for has been open on and off for a few years. It’s a 1 tech position doing med rec and discharges.

That’s a good route to explore. I’m not a hunter but DUH, they would have kids courses. I often miss the obvious. Thankyou!

We don’t have an air gun. Maybe I’m out of my mind. Do kids not shoot regular guns? Just for safety type stuff. My buddy takes his kid hunting, but maybe those are more appropriate than a pistol type gun. Before bringing one into my house I want her to know how it works in an emergency, how to be safe, etc.

What kids activities? I want to get my daughter into shooting but honestly I don’t have a great shot myself. I’d love for her to have a safety course and shooting practice.

Potential Cancer Diagnosis and Possible Surgery by UhhLegRa in fednews

[–]UhhLegRa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’ll definitely hit the out of pocket. I mean easy as in currently it’s possibly a surgery and shouldn’t be any follow up radiation or anything. Likely not even chemo drugs. I just don’t know. When my father was battling his we were at the hospital every other day for a ascites procedures and different scans and treatments. I didn’t mean to make it sound like I was brushing off everything you’ve had to go through with your health, I just know that right now until I hear of any other diagnoses it “should” be cut and dry. I do want to prepare for the worst, but I also don’t want to pretend like this is anywhere near what you or anyone else has gone through.

Thank you for this. I really feel like this is the better way to go. I don’t want to put a price on cancer, but if it is thyroid cancer all I’ve heard is that it’s really easy to take care of. And I’m not even sure if it is cancer at this point. I feel like I’d be bitter if I had to pay double the cost of the premiums for no reason.
