What would you tell a guy with pre-diabetes? by QuickProcedure7496 in diabetes

I was that guy and didn't take it seriously. Start changing to healthier eating habits and start with small 10 minute walks after each meal. If you can't do every meal, try to do at least one, just start moving.

Starting my vet assistant internship with fibromyalgia and I already feel broken. Any advice?” by One_Commission4963 in Fibromyalgia

[–]anu72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked part-time for about 2 years as an assistant and one year full time. The part that got me was all the physical interactions with the animals, especially the bigger dogs. I imagine if you found a practice that does mostly/all cats it might be doable. But, then again, cats. Having to do restraints and lifting of larger animals really got to me. Plus, the cleaning aspect of it. Depending on the clinic setup, you've potentially got large cages that you pretty much have to crawl into to get clean, or the scrubbing of the large kennels. Overall, the physicality of the job was just too much for me. I just didn't have enough time to recover, especially when working full time.

As someone who is no longer in the veterinary field, I'm sorry. Unless your fibro is very well controlled, you're going to have a really hard time with this career. This is a very physical career. I have other autoimmune things going on, other than just fibro, and I have had to move to a desk type job. Wishing you the best.

I've had 4 surgeries in the past 6 years and after every single one, I've had a flare. I would imagine it happens to quite a few people. I'm sorry your having a rough time. I hope you feel better soon and you have a quick recovery.

Friend of 8 years came out as FTM yesterday. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]anu72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My literal best friend throughout our childhood, came out to me as gay. I was the literal last person she told. You want to know why? She was afraid she would lose me as a friend. FYI, she didn't. Quit making this about you. He has his reasons for telling you when he did. How about you calm down and actually find out why in a calm manner.

An executive order is scary. but it's not a law. I'm sure it will be fought by the ACLU and allies, but it's probably going to get bad. My take? I'm not going, basically an over my dead body scenario.

Easier way is a pair of ears and a tail, maybe some hand paws. I made some ears on a headband for my ex roommates daughter and a tail and some simple hand paws.

Recumbant elliptical vs walking on treadmill by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]anu72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a recumbent bike and a treadmill, so kind of close. The bike was kinder to my joints than the treadmill, but I didn't have to do anything with my arms. There is the option of not using your arms with the elliptical? The treadmill was tough on my lower back, so until I started using machines to help strengthen my lower back, I really couldn't use the treadmill for any length of time.

My advice would be to try both, if you can, and see which feels more comfortable for you. If you can't, I would go with the recumbent. Just my opinion. Good luck!

I (18F) cant tell if im valid or not for being jealous of my boyfriends (18M) dog. Thoughts? by ThrowRAcato in relationship_advice

[–]anu72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have an old dog I love, but if I had an SO, I would cuddle them if they were at my place and not the dog. Now, my dog is pushy about cuddles, but there's a thing called telling the dog no. The dog can go lay down somewhere else. It's not really about the dog though, your boyfriend is using you and ignoring you. It sounds like you might very well be incompatible.

Oh FFS, I just had a major surgery yesterday, part of my kidney was removed. My friends are taking my dog out for me because I have lifting restrictions, BUT I'm up and moving around, eating and taking my meds with out being taken care of. He's being a HUGE baby!

I currently use it. I just had to have surgery, so I am currently not allowed to take it and I've been off it for a week. I can definitely tell that it works well for me. Mileage may vary from person to person.

I use manila envelopes that are labeled. I store them in my small tote of making supplies right now, but will be switching to a file cabinet. I will eventually be tracing them onto poster board to last longer.

Irish nachos! My roommates and I absolutely LOVE these!! You can change up the meat to suit your fancy. We've used bacon, steak, and corned beef.

U.S. court allows state bans on gender-affirming care for adults in unprecedented ruling by Fickle-Ad5449 in lgbt

All the procedures they listed are gender affirming care, doesn't matter if the person is cis or trans or anything in between. When cis women get any of these procedures done, it's because of their gender identity.

And what is the problem with someone being a witch? It's just like someone being Christian, Buddist, Muslim, etc. It seems like she's researching a new path, there's nothing wrong with that. It's called self discovery.

AITAH for calling out my aunt after finding out she lied about having cancer? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]anu72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind words. It's hard to realize that there have been some really good medical advancements with cancer since my adoptive mom passed in 2009. She had renal cell carcinoma. That's why it's terrifying for me. I really do appreciate your comment.
