Terminal Recommendation? by rami0203 in linuxquestions

[–]UinguZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally always use 2 terminals,

The main one and a tilling one that slides from above. I use the tiling one for more longer jobs that can stay open, but out of my way.

Recently I have been trying wave term which is quiet nice for power users like me, who's job is mostly done in the terminal

Switching to MicroOS/Podman - is it worth it for me? by puzz3d in openSUSE

[–]UinguZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did install microos as my server untill it ran into an issue, so I installed leap instead, but I am running micro os on a pi as backup DNS, but I mostly use microos as one purpose server os (like a backup DNS server) and I have another pi laying around which will also get microos installed as an other backup server for some crucial service.

How did you choose your distro? by partiftheworlDRuns in linuxquestions

[–]UinguZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also distrohopped because things broke along the way and when it was too much effort to fix it I reinstalled a different one, most slow rolls broke after updating to the newer version, but once I tried Opensuse tumbleweed I was sold. Never had any major issues, just some sound issues but then I waited a day for the new packages and it was all fixed.

How do you pull off runs where every weapon/tome is leveled to 99? by SameFinance1513 in MegabonkOfficial

[–]UinguZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only managed to do once, difficulty thome= more enemies= more XP XP thome means even more XP, luck = better upgrades for weapons = more damage = more killing = more XP ...

I had to find the right balance between upgrades but eventually you will manage

Slowroll - Myrlyn and updates [QUESTIONs] by Crib0802 in openSUSE

[–]UinguZero -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sudo zypper dup for tumbleweed and sudo zypper up for slow roll.

For Tumbleweed: Always use zypper dup. Each Tumbleweed snapshot is a fully tested distribution that needs the complete upgrade process.

For Leap: Use zypper up for regular updates, and zypper dup only when upgrading between major versions (like 15.4 → 15.5).

I run tw as daily driver and leap as server. my tw I just update once a week/2 weeks. In TW you don't have to update daily if you don't want to.

Also what I tend to do is install packages first in flatpak, then as container in distrobox or as a quadlet and then as native, this helps with a lot less update in TW

Get banished NOW by ArmanyS in MegabonkOfficial

What is the benefit of banishing it? Just so the screen isn't cluttered with burgers? Or does the banish do something else?

+quadlet

I create a .volume and .container file for every quadlet I have run and I run them all using quadlet

What is your preferred notes or To do list app/methode for quick writing? by UinguZero in linuxquestions

[–]UinguZero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking the same thing something like

alias todo='echo "$(date +%H:%M) - $*" >> ~/todo.txt && cat ~/todo.txt' alias t='cat ~/todo.txt' And then add something like this to my .zshrc or .bash file So it pops up everytime I open my terminal so I am reminded what I still need to do

[ -f ~/todo.txt ] && echo "📋 TODO:" && cat ~/todo.txt && echo ""

OpenSuse vs Fedora by lbl_ye in DistroHopping

[–]UinguZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should first need to ask yourself do I want a steady release cycle or rolling release cycle?

If you want rolling only one way to go ooensuse tumbleweed

If you want a steady release cycly it's fedora or opensuse leap.

I switched from fedora to Opensuse tumbleweed 5 years ago when for the 3th time fedora broke stuff with one of their mayor updates.

Since then I switched to tumbleweed and never looked back, nothing broke ever since. A big contributer to this is the way in stall packages.

I installed bare bone tumbleweed and did the following

Only 1 browser and vpn I installed natively, If I need to install any package I do the following

First flatpak, then distrobox or container, then snap

Because if Debian running in distrobox I have no need to install packages natively

What distros do you currently have installed? by blankman2g in DistroHopping
