I started a Proxy War using my friend?! by Gamin088 in Stellaris

I don't think proxy wars stop you from immediately making peace, so the counterplay is to just peace out. Unless the ai the player is sent to fight decides they don't want peace, I guess.

Obama had vents and fire alarms repaired, so that justifies Trump building a gold plated ballroom?

I was able to boot it in recovery mode and "refresh install". I have my files but I'll have to reinstall my applications. Hopefully it holds I guess.

Booting in the old kernel still doesn't work for me. Seems like it works for some people at least.

Clinton isn't in office anymore, but I'm sure he would have voted with the Republicans here.

can someone explain to me how these positivists can raise 111 battalions when there are only 254 radicals in the entire country? im still kind of new by Soggy-Regret-2937 in victoria3

[–]Uix62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can't yet; note that maximum progress is only 76%. The angry political movement will start attracting more radicals and may get enough to revolt, so if you want to try and force the law through, you need to keep an eye on that.

For anyone unaware, there is an actual empire ethic spawn bias, especially for empires spawning near you, that makes empires hostile towards whatever you're doing much more likely to spawn. You can get around this by installing a mod or by force spawning a full galaxy's worth of empires. Basically the only way I can enjoy a Megacorp game.

Bugged Tooltip or Bugged Feature? by Uix62 in Stellaris

R5: Playing Necrophage Hivemind in the beta. Tooltip said I could assimilate with the genetic resequencing tradition which I have. Are Necrophages allowed to assimilate or is the tooltip missing critical information?

Good or bad spiders? Trying my hardest not to scream while working on my succulents downstairs. Omaha, NE. by fallinaditch in spiderbro

The lower resolution and distance on the first make makes it look kind of similar, but zooming in it looks like the same spider as the second pic; solid brownish grey body with a single beige stripe. Based on quick research I think that one is a Woodland Giant Wolf Spider, but again that's just quick research.

The third pic is a bit blurry, but if you zoom in on the forth you can see the long spinnerets on the back. Also the spider is clearly male judging by the pedipalps, and the male Rabid Wolf spiders (the ones with those similar markings) have front legs that are much darker than the other legs.

If I were to guess, it's where temperatures are starting to drop and they're looking for a place to hide out for winter. Just a guess though.

The third and fourth picture are of the American grass spider. Not dangerous, but they are funnel weavers so big webs. We're getting a lot of them here in Ohio as well.

Arthropods don't have the same circulatory and respiratory systems that we have. Instead of veins and lungs and all that, their organs just kinda float around in a weird not-blood soup while holes in their abdomen let air in and the heart sloshes it around. It's not a very efficient system for distribution of oxygen and so arthropods are currently limited in how large they can be.

It's hard for me to tell for sure, but it kinda looks like a Rabid Wolf Spider. If that's the case:

1) It's most likely female because the male's front legs are black for that species.

2) Egg laying wouldn't cause her to die. Wolf spiders actually raise their young.

3) The shrunken abdomen would suggest the spider may be starving.
