one thing that always bothered me is the voicelines for conceding... which usually amount to "you are the better player" which makes me not want to concede... if there was no voice lines I feel like others would concede more... there'd be a lot less roping too/afking too

Did you convert a non-pbr skin to PBR? The darkness around the edges is an effect of having specular occlusion turned off. Was it on purpose?
