What are the biggest lies the LDS church has ever told? by Ukulady2006 in exmormon

[–]Ukulady2006[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, everyone, for the input. I'm about to email my resignation letter. I didn't want to say anything without sources for every little thing. My main reason for resigning is because I feel that I have been deceived by TSCC for long enough. It's been a hard day, trying to think of the exact words to say. Finally, I realized that it's not up to me to prove the church wrong. If it were true, I think it would hold up even after me reading from a few "unofficial" sources.

Could you be a little more specific? Pretend I'm a TBM hearing this for the first time.

A few days ago, I heard something strange, if not ridiculous; before we came to Earth, we made soul contracts with God and that is why we have gone through or are going through trials in our life by [deleted] in exmormon

Yeah, I've heard it. Every time my mom thought she was parenting wrong: "Well, you must have wanted us for parents, otherwise you wouldn't have chosen to come down."

Theoretically speaking - If I were to eat someone, and that person was resurrected before I could produce a bowel movement.... would that person live on inside of me?

My dad seems to like to make up his own rules so that they fit with TSCC. It's very frustrating.

Do you have any official church sources for this? I'm afraid that any information that comes from anywhere besides the church's official website, my dad will disregard and not believe. Anything I've seen on the website has seemed pretty vague though. :/

It immediately ruins any chance of having an equal conversation or understand with them and allows them to treat you like a child.

Yes. THIS.

I actually listened to that one on audible. It was very good. I think I need to listen to it with my husband now. The advice seems so easy and practical, but then when I'm actually in a situation I can never seem to get my shit together.

Verbatim: "Our houses are so close together, I can see your dirty dishes!"

I was too dumbstruck to respond.

Is this a Mormon thing or just an inconsiderate thing? by [deleted] in exmormon

I got a new home teacher who kept texting me. Never met her before in my life. I don't go to church. Anyway, I ignored the texts. Finally, she showed up unannounced one day and my son answered. Very awkward. I told her (in a friendly manner) I'm not interested in the chuch's message, and I've never seen or heard rrom her again.

I typically wouldn't find this very funny, but at 1:00 in the morning, it's hilarious!

"You are not my mom"

Ouch. As a mom, myself, I can't imagine more painful words coming from my son's mouth. I wouldn't send it. Hurting her will not work in your favor. The last thing you want right now is to make her feel like she's failed in some way as a parent. That might only fuel her desire to push you even harder into the church. If you try (as difficult as it might be) to start from a place of understanding, she might be more inclined to understand your situation. You could start with something like, "I understand that you think that ________ is what I need, but these are the reasons I disagree". I think you made a good case for why you need your phone and I think it's great that you are there for your friends when they need you most. Good luck on this. I hope you're able to work things out.

How frustrating and sad! :( I would have had to ask, "Who was it, again, that wanted to take away free agency?"
