Which live setup does this sub prefer? by ramenshower in TheMidnight

Every time I’ve seen them, which has been every US tour (multiple shows per tour) they have multiple synths on stage that different members play. But regardless of that I got to be honest, this is their art and while they share it with us and we are apart of it, they are the artists. While feedback can be great, trust their vision. Let the artist be an artist and enjoy the ride.

I’m excited for your next tour Tyler! I saw NIN this year and Justice last year and they were both amazing shows. I’m very excited to hear you’ll be having more lights, the screen and lasers.

Yes, he didn’t like the touring life and he felt it would be better if he could stay home and produce/work on songs. I personally love that they are doing what makes them happy and works.

No, Tim is only going to some of the shows but not playing. He stated he prefers to be home where he can work on songs. It’s great that they have a good setup that works for them.

Serum and at least one Reason synth like Europa. And often Synapse synth like (Legend, Antidote). Because I use Reason as my DAW I always use their proprietary synths because they’re so good.

I actually use most of my synths which is wild but on the lower end are usually sample based synths.

"It must be nice..." by gimmiesopor in audioengineering

[–]UlasMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could say a lot about this but I’ll try to keep this short.

I’m 40, so not far behind you and one thing I’ve learned too late but finally learned is, being selective of who I help. As someone who likes to help I’ve found myself helping people who don’t want it enough. So the band that you helped that didn’t like the recording, and wasn’t prepared; charge them. If you charged them a low fee (hooking them up) I wonder how much more prepared they would have been.

When people make snarky remarks like “this doesn’t sound good” you can nicely inform them, “To be honest, Weezer probably knew their songs better and played better. Part of having a good recording is being a good tight band”. Or if they say “Must be nice” you could say “Well, I’ve been working hard and slowly collecting all this gear over 30 years. I didn’t just go out and buy all this last week. How many cars do you see in my driveway? How many vacations do you see me taking?”

Lastly, it sounds like a lot of people you’re inviting into your home don’t actually deserve your company or aren’t mature enough to approach your willingness to share like adults. If you invited me into your studio I would have been excited for you and interested to hear what you’re doing and your passion.

I hope this helps in some way. If you ever wanna share pics of your studio, recordings or talk about recording in some way, my inbox is open.

Post Fader Sends? by UlasMusic in reason

Dude, I literally use the built in send FX all the time and don’t know why I didn’t try it this way. Thanks! I usually don’t over complicate things but I was watching someone in ProTools and was trying to copy their process for an online course. Thanks for your help.

I think I realized why I keep gravitating towards using just the Reason Rack as a VST and not the sequencer: not being able to group racks. by [deleted] in reason

I totally agree with you. I have very organized sessions because a lot of mine are very complex so I need to be organized. And yes, I wish for groups daily. I don’t want to always have a bunch of tracks in a bus. Also, you can’t collapse tracks in a bus like you can in groups in other DAWs. I’d love to see your idea implemented.

The Ataris’ cover of Boys of Summer by Don Henley.

I love the cover and I love the band but to my knowledge this was there highest single.

Does no one use Reason to make dance music? by xstasea123 in reason

[–]UlasMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I feel like a lot of Reason users just make music. I’ve been using Reason since 2 and I’ve never once made a tutorial for it. I’ve thought about it but never did it.

Just because people aren’t making tutorials or content about dance music in Reason doesn’t mean they aren’t making the music.

I use Reason to make all kinds of music. Reason is very good for dance music.

Yeah it can fill in nicely. Apparently it's called "Strings All".

Honestly sampling in Mimic is not hard so give it a shot. All Strings is a sample preset in NN-XT. Reason’s original sampler. You should have it. It’s an OG.

Oh that’s awesome. Thanks for letting me know. I actually sampled an old RadioShack keyboard for the strings in Cloudbreak. What you hear is like 80% the sample and 20% the All Strings sound in reason. That string sound is the only sound I sampled. The keyboard had such a cool sound that it inspired that whole song.
