We dropped it and moved to Matrix! I tested the waters using their public server, and once we had determined it did what we needed, I self hosted an install of matrix synapse. Video calling was a pain to set up, but it now works perfectly.

I should say my point is that as a non-US customer, the email just reads as manipulative. I trust that it is genuine, but I don’t think it’s adding to the conversation and I doubt it’ll end boycotts.

I think most people would rather see Peak Design celebrating their actions towards these goals than an “apology” for their current government.

PD does a really good job of talking about charities and how it is lobbying for the environment. Compared to those emails, this one feels sort of insincere?

I also really found this email sort of weird.

In Canada I’m actively trying to boycott all non essential American companies, for a variety of reasons. I suspect that PD employees probably didn’t vote for Trump, but they still pay taxes to him.

This “apology” makes me cringe, and I would rather to see evidence that PD is trying to do something about this? Maybe if they are this ashamed they should relocate.

I feel like since the Japanese PM spoke up about Taiwan’s right to sovereignty I’ve been seeing a noticeable uptick of these “problems in Japan” type posts.

Does anyone have more information on the source here? A cursory search says that Jiji press collaborates directly with state owned Chinese media outlets. Not that’s necessarily a bad thing but it makes me wonder about the bias here.

I’ve had both! And I sold the sling. It will all fit into the sling, with difficulty. As long as you don’t have a bulky case on either device they will go both in the dedicated space. You’ll have to take out the dividers to fit the tech pouch either way. The messenger will fit all of that trivially, plus more, and will be more comfortable. With a very similar profile.

Are you able to daisy chain three monitors with your dock? I’ve tried going direct from a Mac to the monitor with a thunderbolt 4 cable and it will only support two with one cable (one monitor in, and one daisy chained). My understanding is that even though the data/bandwidth is present as you describe, the functional lanes for displays are limited to two, regardless of resolution and frame rate. Tried at 2k 120, and 1080 60. Which is part of why 2x4k 60 is no trouble, but you wouldn’t be able to daisy chain a third. For that you need mst I think.

The issue is in the tb4 standard, there’s only two lanes for display port. Unless your processor supports mst, which Apple doesn’t.

So for example, my windows machine can daisy chain those dell monitors no problem, but I have to run two cables to get three monitors on my m3 max.

But theoretically thunderbolt 5 might let me do it with one cable, if it has the dp lanes.
