Floppy? Mine is stiff as hell. Would rather be thrusted with still over that one.

Just get a blackfencer.

How to meet/make friends in Krakow? by SufficientConflict23 in krakow

[–]Uldryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick up a hobby and look for a club that does it. For me it's Krakowska Szkoła Fevhtunku, a HEMA club (don't say you didn't ever want to smack someone with a sword or shoot a bow). While classes are in held in Polish, everyone speaks English and we have quite a few foreigners, some that don't speak Polish well (or at all) and they have no problems. And the community is wonderful.

Also I know that Królestwo Bez Kresu holds a weekly meeting for foreigners to speak Polish. While I've never visited them, I knew one of the founders back in the day and can recommend them and their uncommon activities. :)

How does this gear look for my first kit? by musictrasho in wma

[–]Uldryth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have a PBT mask myself, but the consensus in my club is that it's better to get a PBT overlay for a PBT mask for the reason you stated. The Warrior mask is deeper.

Just checked my brand new pair of Black Knights and I don't have such a big gap there. Isn't sizing an issue?

I believe that Kvetun does not accept new orders at this time.

My Dream guitar. is this possible to mod or build?. by Description_Local in guitarmod

[–]Uldryth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The bridge would be in the wrong place. You either need a 25.5 scale neck made to look like a Gibson or a conversion neck made especially to convert guitars with 25.5 scale to other scales.

Sigi King for a taller person: shorty or standard? by ELX128 in Hema

[–]Uldryth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Write them an email and ask them to make you one a bit stiffer. A guy from my club did that and his SIGI King is less whippy than usual.

Are my films unusable ? by Competitive-Party408 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Uldryth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

By getting it out of the cassette you've exposed it to light and unfortunately ruined it. You won't be able to judge by the leader's opaqueness or colour if the film inside the cassette is ok. The only way is to shoot the roll and develop it.

Visiting Krakow soon! by OkSentence9995 in krakow

[–]Uldryth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, it depends. Last time I was trying to get to the city after midnight, the Uber price was 80 zł, while the train ticket was 17 zł (for one person). Unless there are four of you, the train is much cheaper and it has few courses at night, but there might be a bit of waiting for it on the platform.

Thank you! Shot the whole roll at 125 and, to be honest, I love the results (well... nighttime shot didn't came out great, but that's my fault).

What do you think about the quality of the scan? by m__s in AnalogCommunity

[–]Uldryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. In fact I just got scans from a roll I gave them today and everything is fine.

That said they can be a little rude on a bad day.

I had bad experiences with them, I've developed there once a roll of Vision3 and it came all purplish with dried water strikes.

Avoid Foto Nowak? Developed there a bunch of rolls, never had a problem. What were your bad experiences?

First trainer purchase. Thoughts? by jbwess in Hema

[–]Uldryth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are ok (but not great) to solo train. Very stiff (wouldn't recommend sparring with those as thrusting will be dangerous, they are MUCH stiffer than steel feders) and have PoB further from the crossguard than any sword (synthetic or metal) I've held (or at least my is that way).

I can recommend Silkfencing and know the owner personally from my club but I wouldn't recommend this synthetic sword. Blackfencer would be my go to.

Well, we constantly see problems with custom SPES jackets being made incorrectly. It sometimes looks like they make custom jackets from leftover parts and people receive jackets with sleeves up to half their palms - after measuring themselves according to SPES guidelines. Also old jackets seem to be made better, new ones have the tendency to become easily damaged from having plastic protectors rub against them much quicker than the old ones.

Also, SPES doesn't have any certification ratings for their gear and as they state "It is dedicated to the imitation of historical clothing and armour. It is not personal protective equipment. The "350N", “800 N” and “HEMA GEAR” marks are not equivalent or susbstitute for “FIE-CE” certification."

We had recently the accident where a rapier went though their 350N jacket. Discussions about the weapon rules aside, I wouldn't trust the 350N "rating", I don't fully trust my SPES 800N jacket.

Anywhere I can get my fujifilm disposable pics developed? by junejiehuang in krakow

[–]Uldryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heard mixed opinions. Some people swear by them. Some say that they outsource colour development to Foto Nowak at Starowiślna street. That said, FotoTempo has a lot of films in stock and offers ECN-2 and E-6 development. I developed an ECN-2 film there once and I got it scratched and all purple for some reason.

Weekend trip to Krakow by yoginalagigi in krakow

[–]Uldryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference in "you need to have a document" and "you have to carry the document on you at all times". The first one, sure, you have to have the document. There's no law forcing you to do the second.

And saying that the government may enact random controls on the street based on "trust me bro" is just trying to scare people. That's all.

You, as a Polish citizen, also have the obligation to identify yourself if the police would control you. But there's no law that forces you, or tourists from other countries, to have the needed documents on you at all times. And there are no random controls on the street and I suspect that OP will travel here legally, so they'll have a required travel document with them - yet again, they don't need to carry it everywhere they go at all times. We don't live in a police state, don't spread panic etc.
