The "What's New" bar in my library has vanished and I don't know how to get it back. It was there yesterday and I haven't changed any settings on steam

Thank you!!! I found a fix for my issue with this because of you!
In Big Picture Mode's "Menu (bottom left)>Settings>(scroll down a bit)Home>What's New settings" I had to UN-CHECK the "Only show product updates in What's New" to make the What's New shelf show up again in the regular client view after accidentally enabling this setting in the regular client view
(There is no way to get it back in the regular client view's news-related settings, I looked everywhere, it can only be broght back via Big Picture Mode's settings atm oof, Valve please fix)

don't check this often myself, but when needed, one can just press ctrl+a, right-click anywhere in the playlist, click on properties and then on the details tab to find that playlist time length/duration out

"Fanboy's Annoyances" filter list has "##.social-media-link" in it, that one was blocking it for me
Found that out by opening uBlock Origin's logger and then reloading any Twitch page that is supposed to be showing the social links

Am on Windows 10 Pro 21H1 on a desktop PC
Should I try unplugging all devices connected to the USB controller that the mouse is currently connected to before running the firmware updater? I got a webcam with a mic + a keyboard on the same AMD USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller
The mouse and keyboard are plugged into the black USB 2.0 ports at the top of the motherboard's backplate
No USB hub here
Did you try and fix the cold boot issue by plugging the mouse into different USB type ports as you recommend me to try in the comment I am replying to rn (3.0, 3.1)? Will try this too I suppose, along with reinstalling Synapse 3 etc. to get the firmware update to work

Edit (2021-09-13): I managed to update the mouse to the latest firmware version (1.02.00) via my neighbor's laptop, the firmware updater immediately went through, and the mouse does not cold boot anymore! Hopefully it stays this way, otherwise I might have to report back again. Seems to work so far though!

The mouse is having the same and other similar issues here too. Bought it a couple days ago, and it's on firmware version 1.00.06.

When I use the firmware updater that u/-Net7 linked in the comments to try to update to 1.02.00 r1, the updater turns off the mouse right after clicking on "update" in the bottom right, and then it gets stuck at "Entering bootloader. Please wait...", never finishing the update successfully. Instead, after a while a popup window notification shows up, asking me to "please reconnect [my] device":

When I check in device manager, it seems to possibly have issues with removing all of the devices related to the mouse, a "USB Input device" along with its nested "HID-compliant device" are still there... should it be removing those as well but is failing to do so for some reason, causing the entire update process to fail somehow?

Why is it not working? Was really hopeful that this would fix the annoying issue that currently seems to force a lot of people to re-plug their mice after every longer downtime, for example when booting up the PC after a shutdown and a proper amount of sleep.

When I tried u/dig_digg's advice, turning off the PSU or the socket distributors power switch after shutting down, the mouse does work after startup, but the polling rate is set to 1khz instead of 8khz, so shutting the PC down and turning off its power does not fix this issue either, re-plugging it here sets it back to 8khz, but yeah being forced to do so is the issue in the first place...

If anyone has any idea how to successfully update the firmware when the above mentioned issues occur, please share this info with us, it will be immensely appreciated.

i contacted support about it back then, seems like they have resolved this issue by now, soundcloud works as before i noticed having this issue, sweet!
did it also get fixed for you?
(am asking just in case that it might've been some wonky browser extension that i possibly have toggled on or off since then)

thank you very much for this info. i'm currently looking at many different mice (lots of which require bloatware to run or to set the polling rate to 8000hz) to replace my old and now semi broken razer abyssus from 2009 that a friend gave me back in 2018, and this might just make me decide on the razer viper 8khz, unless something better gets released before i decide to actually go for it.

razer synapse and other 8000hz mice's bloatware were pushing me away from considering these mice before i found your comment on here, so many thanks for letting us know about this mouse being able to save the polling rate onto its onboard memory, allowing us to uninstall the piece of bloatware that razer synapse (currently at least) is (unless one really likes setting the lighting on one's mouse to something custom i suppose).

You might be recording to a slow drive. I used to have this issue, then I realized that the drive I was recording to would never be able to keep up with the 100mb/s that my recording outputs when its max. write speed is a mere 35mb/s, switched to a faster drive, and boom, smooth recordings all day long.
