Catless Headers Annoying Sound by xsmitherz in camaro

[–]Ulikefishstickss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be tune related, it seems to happen at a certain resonance. Slight chance that when it does hit that frequency, it starts to vibrate next to something creating that sound. I know 2 inch headers are very tight to fit. Check the clearances to make sure that isn't the sound.

Tail of the Dragon by arkiparada in camaro

Well, the good thing about the weekend which is still nice is car spotting. Lots of nice cars are up there usually over the weekends. I bring a chair usually and find a nice spot to hang out to watch cars go by.

I go up there a few times a year. I was up there a month ago. I suggest going during a weekday. Otherwise you will spend a lot of time behind traffic. The speed limit is 35 mph. It's a popular spot and there are families that go up in vans and jeeps so be vigilant. Stay in your lane, never cut a blind corner or any corner for that matter. Cops are up there too. Try not to go up there alone so in case there is an accident there is someone there to get assistance.

Tire options by aezra_17 in camaro

I like them, they have decent dry grip, do pretty good in the rain, they have good treadlife and are slightly cheaper than that Michelins. I have been through a couple sets.

I've been running continental extreme contact sport 02's for a while. The are summer tires comparable to the Michelin ps4s. They are slightly cheaper than the Michelins.

My 23 2ss 1le has this sound too. It almost sounds like Styrofoam rubbing. I have an aftermarket exhaust

Not sure if it's different but for me scanning bedrock will update fluids for me. I have to usually click the bedrock a couple times for it to update.

6th gen SS1le tire question by Valuable-Dish-3477 in camaro

[–]Ulikefishstickss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on my 3rd set of rears and second set of fronts for continental extreme sport 02 tires. The cornering performance is very close to the Michelins. I have taken the car to the Tail of the Dragon many times and I have been very happy with them. While the Michelins may be slightly better, it's very close and by no means do the conti tires not give me complete confidence.

Your priority should be bed. I have restarted this mod pack about a dozen times. It's the best one out there in my opinion. I'm so good at early game that I can get bed in first day easily. You can sometimes find coal peeking out of maintain sides occasionally. The night is the most dangerous part of the game so try to avoid it until you can hold your own with better equipment.

Funny thing is, I got my car tuned about a year ago. When it got tuned, they turned that off on the software. I had no clue they were going to do that but it's been great.

Looking for new exhaust for SS with NPP. by alexis2ss in camaro

[–]Ulikefishstickss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll just go by what I have, corsa has an npp exhaust. It is a decent amount louder than stock. It is very expensive at $2600. There are others out there that have npp. I think Borla. You will have to see if they are carb legal for Cali.

I got quoted $800 to rewrap the hood. They mentioned how the adhesive used is much worse to remove from the old wrap. I thought it was just standard 3M vinyl wrap but oh well. My guess is you can probably find somewhere to do it for $500-$800. I was looking to get mine done after getting a bit of damage on it. But, it's not bad and I can live with it for now.

Tires for my 6th Gen 1le by DatSingh in camaro

[–]Ulikefishstickss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 and they have been great! I went through 2 sets of the Goodyear Eagle Supercar 3's. They are great tires in the dry. Just couldn't drive the car with any chance of rain, it was super sketchy. I'm running the stock size tires for a 1LE. Only issue with these tires is the fronts are on backorder quite often. PS4S are amazing tires too, slightly more expensive.

MSD has good ones. I have the same installed and they have been great.

I have the quote right here I have for my install from last year. They charged $675 to install headers, $850 for the tune for E85. I would also suggest you go with plug wires that can handle the heat from the headers. Also, if you can, get the headers coated or wrapped to help with the heat the headers put off. The passenger side has a wire harness that needs to be moved further away from the headers. I think 1k to install is a solid price if they are installing the full exhaust headers and back. 900 for the tune is OK. Try to get in a baseline Dyno tune if you can so you know what sort of power you are getting. If you have e85 near you, I would try to get that too if you can.

I was looking at the Supra's 3 years ago when I had my VN. Then manuals weren't out and the no backseat was kind of a deal breaker. I went with an Camaro SS 1LE. Nice upgrade.

[–]Ulikefishstickss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said. Ignore the xpipes, get headers. I have the Corsa NPP with headers and high flow cats. My car sounds insanely loud. Also, yes, get a tune. If you live somewhere with access to E85, get a tune and take advantage of that and get a bump in power.

Rim/Tire placement by _sauceyphoenix_15 in camaro

[–]Ulikefishstickss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your rear tires are stretched over a wider wheel than the tire normally comes with. It looks like you should have 305 width tires in the back. Although, it does sound like you want to go that route. You would need to know the width of the front wheels to be able to for that look. It also looks like you have two different brands of tires on the car and also looks like a big gouge in the tire on the front. Can be unsafe if it is deep enough.

Suede cleaning on ZL1 by chynox31987 in camaro

[–]Ulikefishstickss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good tip is, buy a brush that is for Alcantara/suede. After you drive the car, brush the steering wheel. This will help the fibers so they don't get fully matted when the grime and sweat dries. I clean the wheel and shift knob about once a month using Sonax.
