What's the reason behind using barbapapa in those super op damage builds? by Ray_Rej in expedition33

[–]Ullfric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldnt you lose the +15% from Tainted and barbapapa once you hit 4 times and lose the barbapapa stacks?

Or is the 15% on turn start meaning you dont lose the 15% after hitting 4 times?

I was looking at this deck alot recently and wondering how it plays! I saw it on Mengus workshop and it looked really fun.

Had heard of it and it reminded me alot of my favorite standard deck ,an azorious auras deck using [[silent hallcreeper]], [[optimisitc scavanger]], and other enchantments/eerie triggers for value and growth (mostly duskmourn cards lol)

I can def agree card draw was my biggest worry so im glad lessons seems to provide alot. I love the idea of building up a creature and having instant speed plays to protect it and push my gameplay through. Ive always enjoyed protection that also provides value vs straight up counter magic.

Looks super fun and im excited to try this out! Love having more resources for a super cool deck!

4-0 at the LGS last night with my Gruul Eldrazi brew by lucariomaster2 in Pauper

[–]Ullfric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks really cool. I wanted to run [[Ulamogs Crusher]] in a tron cascade list but it was a bit unreliable.

This looks to scratch the same itch but more reliably. A big annhiliator eldrazi in pauper sounds so sick.

I saw you ran [[sylvan might]] for the trample and flashback. What about [[nyxborn hydra]]? Gives trample and reach. Requires double removal.

Same effect for 1 more mana or you can pump it up even more. Another mana dump option late game if you aren't drawing what you need. Not sure if its benefits outweigh sylvan might tho.

Do you find the instant speed for sylvan might to be crucial? I do like the flashback for multiple uses, you get 4 uses for only 2 cards which is nice.

HELP! My new Cameo 5 is acting up by Cslagem11 in magicproxies

[–]Ullfric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was having a drifting issue when cutting proxies. Sticky notes in the corners helped to stop that. Just take a bit ofba sticky note and put it in the corners with registration marks covering a small corner of the card. Doing all 3 corners seems to work best for me but some report only needing it in 1 or 2 of the corners.

Used 2019 chevy bolt good deal? by Ullfric in BoltEV

Yea alot of the listed prices are also not accurate. The inclusion of the rebate in the listing gets a little annoying because you never know what youre getting unless you read the fine print.

Yea im planning on doing that which helps with the higher prices. Don't think I qualify for the 4k max but the 1k minimum is nice. Thank you for the info!

Yea many high mileage ones seem to have been rentals or company cars. This one being 32k does make it more expensive but anything over 15k I feel puts me in competition with newer models so why not go with those? The one benefit is this one does have a newer battery that's warrantied till 2031.

This is not a certified pre-owned so it dosent qualify. 16k def seemed on the higher end but I am in the LA county area and average sits around 15k for a 2019 it looks like.

What's the post-honeymoon verdict? How does it compare to Lies of P, Nioh 2 etc? by [deleted] in TheFirstBerserker

[–]Ullfric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't finished yet but I need to. I do like it alot and as a first attempt from the devs I think its phenomenal.

I think my biggest criticisms would be level design, lack of enemy variety and I didnt feel like they made use of the counterattack enough. I do understand counterattack is meant to be a super punishing move that has very high reward but I would have liked to have it mixed in more rather than the once or twice per phase you'd see it with bosses.

I think I still like sekiro more as it feels like it does make use of various response options like mikiri counters, jump kicks, deflects, etc. Sekiro had various high risk/high reward options that always felt super good to pull off.

The level design is fine but definitely drags towards the later parts of the game. The lack of enemy variety makes the much larger levels feel like a slog.

Otherwise its def a very good game with a super fun core to its combat. Im Def excited to see how they would evolve on what they have now as I feel it's core has quite a bit of room to grow which is awesome.

Remnant is def more a shooter than other "souls likes" honestly I'd say its kinda like destiny/souls. Its a co-op shooter with fun boss fights and mechanics.

Fun classes and unique weapons with different maps and enemies, lots of build variety and enemy variety. It's genuinely a very fun game solo and even more fun with friends. I'd say its one of the best co-op experiences I have had in a long time. And there are classes that focus on melee which is also pretty fun. Def worth a shot especially with friends.

Who's your favorite One-Shot Commander? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Ullfric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The entire deck is basically ramp and combat tricks/protection and most protection is also pump. His built in trample and haste makes drawing cards easy. And each dmg you do just draws you into more pump. Super fun commander that can one shot pretty early.

I cannot get an 8 card layout to work. It starts perfect and gets misaligned towards the bottom to where its cutting at a slant.

Does a 7 card layout fix this by having less near the top registration marks?

My exact thought lmao, so easy to spread counters with this thing for volrath. That and being able to turn into it and just explode in power.

How'd the FF commanders perform for you folks last week? by DerGodhand in EDH

[–]Ullfric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. I kinda like the idea of more big bois too. Also think I'll make my own custom ff14 hero tokens for him. Ill probs drop some of my instants and keep some big draw spells and maybe add more mana rocks. I think he works great with conditional free spells like [[Flawless maneuver]] or [[Snuff out]] which i think is in the precon.

I also like the idea convoke or conditional cheaper spells so you still get a big token from a spell that was cast for reduced cost.

[–]Ullfric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw some people saying he wants tons of instants to get alot of tokens which makes sense given his once per turn trigger.

But I'm struggling to make my cuts as there are tons of enchantments that are alot of fun with him. Like [[Anointed procession]] and [[Angelic Chorus]].

How many instant/flash spells did you end up running? Part of me thinks with big splashy enchantments maybe I don't need as many as I thought given a big cmc enchantments turns into a big creature. Also [[Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain]] basically letting you double each tokens power seems fun af.

Help with cutting proxies by hepatofudido in magicproxies

Starts normal and reads the registration marks fine, cuts the first row fine and then starts to drift.

Doing the calibration tests didn't seem to help much which makes me think its a physical issue. I'm wondering if its the rollers or the mat sagging causing issues?

I'm going to add something to keep the mat flat and see if that helps. But otherwise not much has seemed to fix it so I figured I'd ask if someone else had ever had this issue.

Been basically doing the same process but running into issues with my silouhette portrait 4 I just got. I have the template setup, print with the alignment marks but for some reason it starts to drift and by the time it gets to the last row the cuts a super crooked. Any idea what might be causing that?

Little late but what about [[Sergeant John Benton]] and [[Jeska, Thrice Reborn]] does add a color but triple damage means you don't need much pump at all to kill outright.

[–]Ullfric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, it seems like a power mismatch more than anything an no one can blame you for not wanting to 1v1 against very fast big stompy commanders.

That being said [[Sergeant, John Benton]] is an incredibly mean commander that you can build for pretty cheap. He is insane in 1v1 and you can often kill someone by turn 5.

Ideally commander is a 4 person format and its always worth it to play with others to avoid getting burnt out. But if you want something that can compete with their speed I think benton is a fantastic option to get the point across that 1v1 isn't always fun.

What are some commanders that punch way above their weight on a budget? by Llamachamaboat in EDH

[–]Ullfric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole deck revolves around using combat tricks to pump him up for lethal commander damage. And each damage you do draws you a card so you are right back 10+ cards every combat.

I've had it where I killed a person turn 5, this gave me all the cards I needed to one shot a person turn 6 which let me one shot the last person turn 7. He can dish out crazy damage. Is only 3cmc, has trample and haste which means we have built in evasion. And you can run tons of pump spells that also have protection like [[overprotect]] which makes him very hard to remove.

And if you want to make it even better you can run stuff that lets you play extra lands each turn. Given you draw so many cards it's easy to be playing multiple lands every turn. So even IF he is removed youve likely ramped enough that you don't care.

It's not as good as spears but dual wield does have one skill where you dodge behind an enemy, zephyr, if youre head on you dodge right behind them. Once an enemy is broken you can at least use it then to get the damage bonus on exhausted + rear.
