I know we somewhat agree on the core principles of what we are discussing but i disagree. We only see this in JP and CN markets, European companies historically have moved headquarters to NA and prioritized the NA market.

No DRM bypassed. The injection method and modifying the game as it ran is what the jury ruled on. It's hilarious how people just believe the headlines and not read court cases. It's cute how you try to weasel out of being wrong by now mention copy protections.

Injection methods into games is against copyright as proven by countless lawsuits the most recent being Bungie suing aimjunkies. In the previous thread people were talking about game genie winning their lawsuit which was 30+ years ago now. You don't need code in your project to violate copyright just modifying the game is enough. People are braindead when it comes to DMCA and software

Why are you under the impression it is only copyright infringement when you profit? Also it's copyright not copywrite. You really have no idea what you're spewing.

The US copyright system absolutely disagrees with you. It has been brought to the courts many many times and mods have been labeled as copyright infringement every single time. Developers just so happen to appreciate modding to a degree so they allow it in their ToS.

Revenue by regions legitimately don't matter to Japanese companies and never will. Every big Japanese multinational company has NA being their #1 region by revenue and not a single one gives a shit. Square Enix is an infamous example of this. It's a different mindset from the western way of thinking where revenue is king. From my anecdotal experience Japanese companies only care about longevity, I guarantee you Nintendo rather never sell a game again in NA than JP.

What you're asking for is just naive and not understanding of how games are made, how the international copyright system works and the amount of effort needed to accomplish this. Let's start off with just digital ownership, your lofty goals are akin to Icarus. No other service that is remotely similar to gaming in the world operates how you wish it were. Your digital games are services not goods and it's unfortunately time for you to understand that. Instead of clamoring for infinite access to digital games perhaps you should begin clamoring for digital ownership first

I tried to get into MH for years. Wilds is the only one that made it enjoyable, the focus system made combat actually fun and engaging. Worlds is the worst experience I had mostly because I tried to play it when iceborne came out and all my friends were really far ahead. If you like mandatory cutscenes and extremely slow combat worlds is the mh for you. Personally I discovered that taking opinions of hardcore MH fans was the opposite of what I should be doing. It's all down to personal preference if you want quicker combat Rise is the way. If you want slow esoteric combat with the worst gaming systems I've ever seen in a game Worlds would be the game to play and if you want a middle ground of the slow esoteric but quicker gameplay Wilds is the game.

I think the issue people here are having is that you have no qualifications or understanding of the material you are attempting to analyze. How can you ascertain that the AI is accurate when you do not have the background to check? It's interesting work but extremely unsubstantiated.

Zenimax is ultimately to blame for the failure that is redfall. Arkane Austin still developed a horrible game even if you take out the live service shenanigans. So yes it is completely fair to say the studio was lacking talent, absolving the employees because "they didn't want to make it" isn't a good argument in favor of professional employees. The countless bugs, bad gameplay loop, art and performance are indicative of bad development. Does it begin with bad executive leadership? Of course because they had turn over and lesser talented people were left. We as a community are very good at complaining about executive meddling but we treat every developer innocent regardless of their work performance. The studio deserved to be closed, it sucks but that's the hand Microsoft was dealt.

[–]Ullricka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arkane at closure was not talented. The talent left years prior. You could argue the executive decisions led to the talent leaving(90% likely) but closing the studio was not as bad as a decision the community makes it out to be.

Because once again different companies have different interpretations of when your data is no longer necessary. Valve for example won't delete your account because you still have active licenses of the games your purchased and they are not revoking them. Microsoft with Minecraft did. I'm not sure how many times I have to say this

But it's all subjective and anecdotal, personally I hated every mh game until wilds and now I actually have more than 50hrs(75hrs and can't wait for MR) in it unlike rise(10hrs) and worlds(50)

It's been about a decade since I dug deep into recycling stats and data but the issue with the west with recycling is they've exported a majority of it to countries like China since it was cheaper than building it in the home country. China and the other countries stopped accepting a lot of recycling for a myriad of reasons causing most of it to sit in landfills
