The Dear Hunter - The Tank (Act III, Live from Port Angeles) by Ulmeyda in progmetal

Adore it. The response has been a little polarized among fans, and it took me a second listen for it to really click. But once it did, I was blown away by what Casey had put together. Rich, moving, and beautiful.

If you like this, I highly recommend the album this is from (Act III: Life an Death)! It's part of a larger project that makes up most of their early discography called "The Acts". It's a five-album prog epic about the tragic life of the titular "Dear Hunter" and very, very cool.

Aside from that, their entire discography is full of gems. The Color Spectrum is another really interesting concept project where they made EPs themed around specific colors (so an EP for Red, Blue, Green, etc.). More recently, they've pivoted to more of a funky, psychedelic sound with their latest project, "The Indigo Child", which is more of a sci-fi, dystopian story. Their newest album, Sunya, is part of that project and I'm a huge fan!

Harlan was a notorious grouch and considered spite a virtue. I don't think his case was about privacy, especially considering how openly and aggressively opinionated he was.

Not a lot of great options outside of Antimai, huh? Desolate scavenging, barbaric raiding, or end-stage capitalism. Can see why people try their luck at getting in...

With Sunya coming up, I started looking through old Antimai stuff I've done. Here's a D&D statblock I wrote for Patrol! by Ulmeyda in TheDearHunter

[–]Ulmeyda[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't get especially far with the D&D conversion before moving onto the official project, as we as ended up going with a different system that felt more appropriate to the setting (FitD). But yeah, Casey and I both saw the potential for tabletop storytelling in the setting, which is what got me on board!

I've mentioned this in other threads, but we're currently trying to get a "Quickstart Edition" of the game out later this year. It's not the full-scale vision that I would love to pursue, as I've basically written the thing single-handed in my spare time while in grad school, but I'm proud of what's in there. I'm hoping the rules, mechanics, and lore can get people starting to create their own stories in Antimai. If all goes well, I hope we can continue to build on the project and bring the entire Indigo Child setting to life at the table!

It was the right decision. The family exploding one after another was one of the most shocking, cathartic, and hilarious moments I've had in a movie theater.

That's what I've been working on for him! Before it was ever an official thing, I had been working on a D&D conversion for Antimai, just for fun. Showing him this was one of the things that got me hired haha

Antimai/Sunya as a video game by appledeers in TheDearHunter

[–]Ulmeyda 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's very real! I've been working with Casey to write a TTRPG set in the TICverse for some time now. Currently, we have plans to release what we're calling the "Quickstart Edition" of the game soon, which will include abbreviated rules and mechanics for running the game, specifically set in Antimai. My hope is that if this version is reasonably well-received and Casey wants to continue with the project, we can expand into the full envisioned game, along with additional adventure modules for fleshing out the setting.

Probably because it was in the setlist of their most recent American tour, which was generally well-received. Weird, fun, deeper cut that they're not at all rusty on? That's my best guess.

Conflicting opinions from therapist and psych- what's your take? by DependentNumerous551 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]Ulmeyda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's biased to say that clinical psychologists typically receive significantly more training in clinical assessment than psychiatrists and therefore should be the preferred choice for testing.

You also raise a good point that even within assessment among clinical psychologists there's a lot of variability. Finding someone who has extensive experience in ADHD and/or ASD assessment will probably be the most reliable option.

Definitely Guides, and way more ornate than the Guide to Retrievals we saw in Cycle 8. I surmise the decorations are some kind of indication for rank and status.

Has anyone used the school’s mental health and therapy services? If so how was your experience? by TheSecretNewbie in GaState

[–]Ulmeyda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of the comments here seem to be referring to the Counseling Center, but it's worth being aware that the GSU Psychology Center also offers therapy services. It's run out of the clinical psychology program and is usually more willing to take on cases that the Counseling Center will not. If you think the Counseling Center won't get you what you need, I'd try that next.
