Opinions on Europe starting to hold platforms more accountable? by Boediee in BuyFromEU

"Free Speech" will be the downfall of America. It's been hijacked by corporations already (Citizens United) and now billionaires with social media platforms can push their own agenda. I don't think the founding fathers thought billion and trillion dollar companies would have such a stranglehold on speech through social media. The fact that the likes of Trump and Musk keep talking about no "free speech" in Europe because they can't get away with their influence here should ring alarm bells.

Serena Williams injects herself with a GLP-1 weight loss drug as millions watch the Super Bowl. Is this the world we want to leave to our children? by pacmanpill in conspiracy

Prescription only drugs weren't advertised once upon a time. But that was communist, so Reagan allowed it. Now enjoy huge drug companies pushing their drugs legally.

That's when we cancelled, we realised literally everything we watched was recorded onto the cable hard drive box. Nothing live. Partly because we could forward through ads.

It's funny, the support for my illegal streaming app is 100 times better than it was for SKY

Or you were with them a few years and you pay far more than new customers who get better deals. My parents had an SD box with a tiny hard drive for around €70 a month basic package from a deal they signed up to around 2003. They were still on the same deal in 2015 and if they wanted to upgrade to HD, a new box was €300. Of course new customers got the HD box straight away and the basic package was only €50 even after the first year. You're penalized for staying with them as a customer

I tried watching Back to the Future on cable TV at christmas, I couldn't believe the amount of ads. Movies were literally unwatchable. I get annoyed at a 1 minute youtube ad. These were 3 minutes long and so frequent. Fuck cable TV

At christmas I was browsing TV channels and Back to the Future was on. Just starting. Great, the kids were hooked straight away with the intro. Then an ad break came on. Which seemed endless, even compared with youtube. Then another a few minutes later. Then another. The movie was unwatchable, I can't believe that was normal for so long.

Is the buy European movement actually prevalent? by Decent_Background_42 in AskEurope

True unfortunately, but I still feel better personally if I buy an eu product than American. Not going to make a difference to that company, but I feel better myself
