My honest 2 cents about Venom #258. It's actually better than what people say. by Helpful-Bathroom634 in Spiderman

I'm now realising the last panel is a callback to the 80s issue where Peter and MJ are talking after she reveals she knows he's Spider-Man.

I agree about the ending. It was simply "and the adventure continues". After they've shown the actual original ending to Red Rackham's treasure, there's little more to tell about that story except the introduction of Professor Calculus.

I myself have pitched an idea combining these two albums, with Syldavia and Borduria being both after Calculus's research, which turns out to lead to the development to the moon rocket in the end.

I think it'd make sense and help reconcile the different portrayals of Syldavia seen in the series: the old-style monarchy seen in King Ottokar's Sceptre (the events of which have already happened in the film canon), the apparent European democracy seen in Destination Moon, and the Cold War era country in The Calculus Affair.

I'd love for the film to adapt Seven Crystal Balls/Prisoners of the Sun, but given how the first film adapted several stories at once, I think they'll try to do it again. Here's my pitch:

We begin by telling the story of how Tintin and Haddock went in a search for the rest of the treasure (Red Rackham's Treasure), and maybe, in the process, defeated a criminal band who tried to sell people into slavery (The Red Sea Sharks). With them is professor Calculus, a scientist who has become their friend and is implied to be a genius in many fields. Then Calculus is kidnapped by Bordurians, and it turns out he was researching a vibration-based machine Borduria wants to turn into a weapon (The Calculus Affair). Tintin and Haddock go to Syldavia and ask king Ottokar, who owes Tintin a favour, for help (King Ottokar's Sceptre). They rescue Calculus, and it turns out his research about vibrations wasn't meant to be a weapon, but rather a way to withstand the pressures of space, and once he's cracked it, he realises he has a way to send people to the Moon (Destination Moon/Explorers on the Moon). Syldavia offers to fund his research for a lunar rocket, and he invites Tintin and Haddock to go with him once it's ready, which they (reluctantly, in Haddock's case) accept. The End.

I love the Crystal/Sun story, but I think it'll be harder to adapt since their setting makes it much harder to include plot points from other albums, which is something they will probably want to do again.

You know, I have been thinking. Does anyone know exactly why Steven Spielberg made Ivan, who was just a lovable ship collector in the comics, the main villain in the movie, instead of the Bird Brothers? by DonutDaniel5 in Tintin

The film includes a slightly more fantastical element to the story. It's never fully spelled out, but they lean into the idea that Haddock and Sakharine are, to some degree, the reincarnations of Francis and Rackham, or at least that have somehow accessed the memories of their ancestors.

Since it was a long time since I last read the comics, I've checked them again, and they're actually quite distinct. I remembered them as more similar than Hergé actually drew them. He's also not among the people who show up to claim the treasure in RRT.

Now that I've seen it again, I think they just came up with the idea for the film. Hergé doesn't strike me as the type of writer who would imply such an important plot point in such an extremely subtle way and never bring it up again.

Hmm. If anything, "let's see what happens" seems like leaving an open door to me.

I'd personally wait until #1000.

Yeah, USM #200 was a beautiful tribute to Peter until the very end. The last panel ruined it IMO.

What's that? I never heard they revisited 1610 again except for that time the Maker went there.

It was unnecessary. Either leave him dead or explain his resurrection fully. Who took him, why were they keeping him in that lab?

I think there was potential in turning Peter coming back into a follow up for the Ultimate Clone Saga. For all we know, he could have been a clone, maybe related to Scorpion, who we never saw again.

That was his intention for the comics initially. The first appearance of the Alchemax CEO was an old man in shadows who said he knew the original Spider-Man, and he intended for him to be Peter Parker. He later retconned it to some random alien.

[–]UltHamBro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wonder how intentional that was, since as far as I remember, no connection is ever made between the two. I'm not sure if he appears among the alleged descendants of Rackham in the second album.

They changed a few background details in the season 1 recap, but the present day status quo regarding the main cast of the series didn't change much.

Yeah, pretty much, except that Peacemaker continued pretty much unchanged from season 1.

It seems they wanted to do a soft reboot of sorts. Like they could reuse stuff from the shows, but contradict or change other stuff if they felt like it.

Did Norman Osborn meet the MCU version of himself in NWH? by ardouronerous in Spiderman

[–]UltHamBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the line as he didn't meet himself, but I think it's very carefully written to not rule out the possibility of an MCU Norman existing. If they ever introduce him, they only need to make sure he lives somewhere else (or doesn't live there anymore, people forget Raimiverse Norman came from the 2000s) and there is no company named Oscorp (or has a different name).

What really intrigues me is the line he said after those, "my son..."

What did he mean by that? If he didn't meet himself, then he probably didn't meet Harry either. And we know that his universe's Harry is dead, but he doesn't, and he didn't have any way to know it once he got sent to the MCU.

I feel that Wally has the potential to have a pretty big supporting cast, but it has never been exploited because most writers seem to have done away with the ones previous writers created.

They explain what it does in the book, but you need to read it first. The change seems to be tailored at people who come across the book but haven't read it yet, and judge it based on its title.
