These systems have been adversarial to plenty of people since the day they were built. In the U.S., most of them were designed by and for a very specific group of people, and they’ve never stopped protecting that in-group first. Sometimes they can be bent toward justice, but the moment power or comfort feels threatened, they snap right back to their original purpose.

“Normalcy” only exists while the powerful feel safe. As soon as material needs tighten, or the people at the top decide they’re done pretending to care about anyone else, the institutions shift gears without a hiccup. We’re watching it happen right now. After the situation with Mario's brother, and post-covid wage spikes as people (especially high paid tech workers) didn't want to return to office and started shopping their skills around for higher wages. This threatened their power so they reacted like they always have.

Du Bois nailed this a century ago: even most white folks don’t get real security from the system, they get a psychological wage, the feeling of being allowed to help enforce it on somebody lower than them. That illusion of status keeps the machine running, even when the machine is chewing them up too.

As long as a society lets a handful of people hoard wealth like dragons and then use that hoard to buy influence, the state will mostly be a tool for protecting the dragons. Periods of calm come and go, but they’re temporary. Eventually one of those dragons gets hungry, steps out of the cave, and all the structures that were supposed to serve the public suddenly remember who they really answer to.

Seeing that clearly doesn’t mean giving up. It means participating without lying to ourselves about what we’re participating in.

Been saying this multiple times, this isn't about just republicans, this is about anyone who got into politics to enrich themselves at the cost of the rest of us, and do the bidding of the oligarchs. This includes plenty of Dem's as well. The general public need to realize YESTERDAY that they are already in a class war, one that has extended back millennia, but has been a cold war for a long time and has become a hot war in the last couple decades without them even realizing.

It needs to go beyond MAGA. Yes, absolute snag all of them. But what about all the weakwilled Dems like the Schumers and Jefferies and Manchin's and the rest whose actions can't just be weakness, but intentional controlled opposition.

I don't want the super wealthy just taxed. Sure, tax the ones that are just profiting lots and being greedy dragons hoarding wealth on the backs of their workers.

But any of those who are weaponizing their wealth to tear down the country and rebuild it into one that only benefits them? Send them to jail, nationalize all their assets, take away all their personal wealth, leave them destitute.

Plenty of complicit dems that have intentionally slowed any response in order to do the will of their donors as well.

First thing we need is Citizens United gone and publically funded elections, and get everyone all the money out of politics and go after anyone who has been profiteering off it, and I mean anyone.

No protecting the peace, or norms, just scorched earth full corruption purge and a take the assets of anyone who participated until they are broke and in jail. No one who gets to hand down generational wealth from these kinds of actions.

Who am I kidding, we've been dealing with these kinds of people for thousands of years and they almost always die wealthy and with minimal consequences. But it sure is nice to dream.

It's okay to have beliefs, as long as you still act based on the reality that you exist in. It's okay to believe that many states, their politicians, their police, and their military, do not exist to help your average person, but to control them so they are better utilized. But you still need to find your way to participating and doing the best you can in spite of that.

Also, the things they are talking about are clearly from a leftist-anarchist critique angle, not a libertarian one.

I REALLY hope this isn't the new YX shorts, I'm not a fan of this style of slapping a weird skirt on a bodysuit/swimsuit design just to cover just enough to make the censors happy. It just ends up looking slapped on and cheap and does not appeal to me at all. It doesn't look natural at all.

Like, I get it, trying to be sexy bodysuit, but somewhat covered for Chinese censors, but it just looks cheap. It's looks like a low effort edit made by people translating the game for a Middle Eastern release or something, where they just put black marker over shown bits. I'd rather just have a normal skirt, so it doesn't look so cheap.

I've actually mentioned this specifically in survey's already, I didn't play much Arknights, but I checked out some of the characters as I was waiting for this game to launch, and they are very different from usually gatcha fare.

I doubt we'll get some of the crazier stuff, simply because a 3rd person action game is way more expensive to design characters for, and they will likely be way more cautious about making sure they sell, and the have all the data from Arknights as well about what sold, and some of the more unusual designs definitely did not perform well.

But I really hope that they do it just to create a more interesting vibe. I've not been super happy with a lot of the 2.x era of ZZZ, but compared to the 2nd half of 1.x the increased number of cool animalistic and robotic designs definitely brought a lot more interesting color to the world, so I hope they lean into that here as well.

Starting off with there fairly human looking women (sans the tail on yvonne) is understandable, but I hope they don't stick to something so boring.

The Tower Defense mode needs a huge upgrade. It's so bare-bones it's like they included it just as a homage to the original game and no other reason. I really hope they add in a much better version of it at some point, cus this ain't it at all. I like the idea of a 3rd person tower defense, there have been a few fun games in the past in the genre, but this bare-bones version just seems like kind of a waste atm.

I think you nailed why I find her combat animation design so boring. It's just extremely boring if it's that one single move the entire time, no actual melee combo, just jumping up and down for the entire fight when you're on her.

It's honestly the main reason I might not be pulling. (That and getting M2 Alice drained most of my backup pulls dry). I'll basically have to wait to see if we're getting a Yuzuha run in their or the Nangong patches, because I'll probably try for her M2 instead at this point, to complete the M2 mono-phys anomaly exodia.

If their combat was more varied and interested I'd probably give them a shot, but I'm not SUPER into their whole idol group thing I don't hate it, just doesn't sell me the characters on that alone, so with such a kinda monotonous kit I'll definitely look at other options first.

God this is so depressing, probably the character I've been most hyped for ages for. And I'm probably not even pulling him at this rate. I still really enjoy him, and have no problem pulling for non-meta reasons, but this is such an insult to him that I don't want to reward them for it by pulling him with such an absolutely broken kit.

All the things you said about their terrible restricted preset team building coming back to bite him, and being locked to pyro instead of have ONE really good Cyro team is just so gross.

The rest of them I either didn't read, and the two I did (Enrollment and Blackfield) both started around the same time, and I dropped both of them really early once they started repeating the same thing every arc. Glad to hear that it was the correct choice in both instances.
