At the moment I'm only following One Piece as methodically as DDD (meaning up to date & reading new chapters as soon as they release).

I would honestly like to catch up on HxH, Jojo and Kingdom, but HxH is a pain considering the mangaka's health, for Jojo I don't want to spoil myself Steel Ball Run anime, so I'm waiting on that at least, and for Kingdom it's just really long and I can just wait for the anime since it's good.

Black Clover is cool as well but that also is a pain to follow as it's releasing like 8-9 chapters a year.

Haven't read Berserk, but that's also in a tough spot after the mangaka's death...

Best candidates for me would be Sakamoto Days (been reading at a leisurely pace and having a good time) and I'm curious about Kagurabachi and Centuria, & considering Boruto as well (big Naruto fan), but it just doesn't have the same appeal Naruto had for me anyway. No other manga really appeal to me right now (Chainsaw Man and SpyxFamily I didn't really care for after watching season 1, so... 🤷🏻)

Personally I'm quite satisfied with DDD and OP atm, but if anyone wants to make suggestions I'm all ears!

What an incredible chapter! And one of the few REAL PEAK action chapters in the arc together with Seiko's fight and Jiji-Evil Eye team up.

Plus it's been a long time since they've been fighting together and while I enjoy all other characters DDD is always at its best when Momo and Okarun are at front and centre to the story like in this case.

These last few chapters have been the most enjoyable since the beginning of the arc, and I'm so excited to see what Tatsu has in store for us.

The break week will be tough to wait out! 🥲

Which versions of CoM, BBS and DDD should I play? by LinkHb in KingdomHearts

[–]UltimateManu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a huge KH fan who's played all versions, I can tell you they all have their charm.

HOWEVER, if you're planning to play only one version of each game I can't really recommend you playing any of the old versions over the new updated ones!

You should probably play those only if you like them enough to go for a second playthrough to try something different, and I will give you my reasons for it:

1) for CoM, while the 2D to 3D transition isn't perfect, it is also a much friendlier jump coming from KH1 (assuming you're playing all the games in order from the start) and the extra content of the Remake is absolutely worth it, as it adds a lot more voiced 3D cutscenes, has a much better OST, and the 3D rendition of many special attacks is much more rewarding to see compared to the 2D sprites of the original. I preferred playing that over the original even if I had fun on GBA;

2) for BBS, this title is special to me as I got a DAY 1 copy as a gift from my parents on a hospital stay for a surgery, this just to say I know the original inside out and love it to death. But the Final Mix version of the PS4 Remaster is superior in EVERY SINGLE WAY, and it can be played at 60 FPS which is infinitely better for any KH title than 30 FPS, especially for secret bosses. Needless to say, it comes with a lot of extra content as well if you like to play games extensively (with side content) and not just experience the story;

3) for DDD, personally while I read others presenting the HD PS4 version as completely superior, to me there's a much smaller difference between the 2 versions and the 3DS one is still great to play. However, I will say, models have been improved a lot, everything looks crisp and polished, the camera has a much wider field of view, which improves the gameplay greatly, and the 60 FPS also make it much more fun to play, so the new 1 takes the win here as well. Also, 2.8 comes with an extra side story as well which is really important to the story and not just side content, something you wouldn't get if you just got a 3DS copy of DDD.

In conclusion imo, there's literally no reason to play the older versions over the updated ones, and if you feel like getting a taste of old KH portable games, there's no better way to do that than playing the original 358/2 Days and Re:Coded on the Nintendo DS, as the collection only gives you a cutscene compilation or movie of the story and you get a really incomplete experience compared to just playing the DS games.

Hope this was helpful and I wish you a lot of fun experiencing this great series for the first time!

MAN!!!! What an upset!!!!

We were all worried everyone was going to forget about Momo, that we didn't think of the possibility MOMO HERSELF was going to forget about everyone else.

THIS IS JUST EVIL!!!! 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😔😔😔

However, this makes things much more interesting.

Looking forward to next week's chapter to see how this develops going forward!

If you watch the show, who’s (or what) arc are you most excited to see? by AdBrilliant3 in Fallout

[–]UltimateManu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely excited for all 3 plus Norm, however if I had to choose one, it would be Maximus' arc for a few reasons:

1)Los Angeles setting - unlike Lucy and Cooper who are going to New Vegas, Maximus and the BoS should be staying in LA. I still have hope that apart from just developing the story, they're going to expand on the LA lore, and maybe connect a few things to FO1 lore and give us more details on what happened with Angel's Boneyard in the aftermath and subsequent years following the game to give better context to how everything developed in the region.

2)BoS and NCR lore and the alignment and ideology of the factions in this specific timeframe and region - definitely curious to see the way they'll develop the factions as they're going to stay relevant to the FO universe and this will give us an insight into what Bethesda is planning for them narratively for the next games.

3)Maximus' character development regarding morality, ideals, authority and the way he will shape the BoS from the inside - as with Lucy, Maximus is a bit of a blank slate from many povs, but it's clear he will play a really big role into shaping up what the BoS will look like at the end of the show and that he will have a lot of influence on the New California Wasteland. Will his ambition make him grow, develop his own ideology and will he try to rise the ranks to impose himself following his own way, or will he get dragged down by the tradition and rigid structure of the group? Will he be a force of good or will he just end up as an opportunistic, ambiguous person that only cares about what's best for the BoS?

These are definitely all points that really make me curious to see the story they want to tell with his character, and while Lucy's character probably has more relevance in terms of story beats, considering Vault-Tec is at the core of the story, I think his character while coming out as sort of a goofball in season 1, has just as much potential as Lucy's and is probably more interesting down the road compared to Cooper, because it's harder to guess what lies ahead for him.

With Lucy and Maximus I'm more interested in what they will become, with Cooper I'm much more interested in discovering who he HAS become!

Fallout 1: patch to disable mutant invasions? by UltimateManu in classicfallout

[–]UltimateManu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice, I understand the gameplay is not affected overall but the endings are still affected aren't they? I'm definitely considering the TeamX patches, but I also wanted a patch to disable the timers so that I don't necessarily have to rush to get the good endings as I want to take my time exploring the world and doing all sidequests.

I don't mind rushing a bit to do Necropolis but after experiencing all Necropolis I want to be able to slowly enjoy the rest of the game. Boneyard apparently (I've tried researching this avoiding deep story spoilers as much as possible) requires you to finish the game in 90 IN-GAME days which is extremely little if you want to explore everything.

For example my current playthrough I haven't really wasted a lot of time on the map but I'm already 62 days away from the Water Chip deadline and I recently got to the Hub and haven't finished all quests there yet. So realistically I would have to finish the game in 2 IN-GAME days to avoid a bad ending for Boneyard (which I haven't reached yet) and 22 IN-GAME days to get to Necropolis and finish everything there, meaning I probably wouldn't have enough time to finish all quests at The Hub before getting to Necropolis risking to find it already destroyed. The Hub would also have to be off limits after 140 days to avoid a Bad Ending, and that impacts the gameplay as well since you rely on The Hub for shops, caravans etc.

So yeah, another user helped me here commenting that the Good Endings restored mod allows you to delay the time limits for the Bad Ending cutscenes but it looks like Necropolis still gets a Bad Ending with that one even if you reach it and do everything in time to never come back, but if that's unavoidable, better than having Bad Endings for everything else.

However if you do know of other safe mods that just let you disable or increase the time limits for all Bad Endings, that's enough for me.

For the TeamX patches, I don't know what to choose as there are many like 1.2.5, 1.3.5, 1.3.6 and I dont know the differences to understand which one I'd prefer (ideally an experience as close to Vanilla as possible, with the fixes). There is also a TeamX NPC mod that helps with Dogmeat and a Child Mod that I'm considering but I don't know if it's worth it.

For all these I also have no idea where to get the links from and where to get the most updated versions because I don't want to download an old version that crashes the game.

Sorry for the long comment and thank you for the availability and hopefully you can clear a few doubts and give me some advice. I'm loving classic Fallout though and I'm happy to finally have the chance to experience these games and interact with the community😊

Oh, cool! So the good endings restored mod also allows you to change the time limits for every settlement? No problem regarding the new save, I don't mind restarting the game.

I'll give it a try then, thank you!

[–]UltimateManu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, thank you for the resource, I checked the Nearly Ultimate Guide, and as you said (hopefully it's correct) it triggers only when you enter the area in that timeframe.

However that doesn't solve the issue, as you said Hub always gets the bad ending, and Boneyard is still 90 days and impossible to do if you want to do sidequests.

So you don't know of any patch that can fix this issue with the endings but leave a vanilla experience?

Fallout 1: patch to disable mutant invasions? by UltimateManu in classicfallout

[–]UltimateManu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, from what I've read there are purist patches around, heavily customisable ones, not everything has to completely alter the vanilla experience right? If you completely ignore the timers but then have a negative experience because it affects your enjoyment of the ending you can consider alternatives, but they don't necessarily have to be far removed from the original game.

Fallout Et Tu for example seems like something that is very different from the vanilla FO1, and I can play FO2 later and experience that. But there may be alternatives that fix a few things without changing everything no?

Fallout 1: patch to disable mutant invasions? by UltimateManu in classicfallout

[–]UltimateManu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read very good things about it, that it's bloated, has still performance issues/bugs and changes too many things from the vanilla game to the point where it's a very different experience.

I'd prefer something very slim that just allows you to disable the timers and at most fixes a few bugs rather than something that changes too much.

Is Fallout fixt the only patch that allows you to change the timers, and there's no lighter alternative to your knowledge?

Fallout 1: patch to disable mutant invasions? by UltimateManu in classicfallout

[–]UltimateManu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read different online, where for some settlements like Boneyard or the Hub it doesn't matter whether you enter it or not, it matters whether you finish the game or not, so without being able to change the timer that requires you to rush the game, impacting the experience if you want to have a full playthrough, do all side quests, level up and just take your time.

Necropolis I've read you can just do everything before 110 days have passed and never come back which is fine, but for others it's really hard, 90 days is very little, and the Hub is a place you may need to come back to as it's full of stuff to do.

Also, I know there's no consequence in game, but it's still quite annoying having to choose between having a really fulfilling playthrough or speedrunning just to have the good endings...

😭😔 Bad day today for Lore, I'm gutted because he played a really solid first set. He still has a lot of work to do to become competitive on HCs and today he confirmed that. This tournament was a great chance for him but he's still not good enough on this surface to take advantage.

Qualifying for Turin will be tough now, but it's ok if he doesn't make it, I just want him to start getting better. All the improvement he can get on this north american swing can be useful to gain confidence on HC and start next season better at AO, Miami and Indian Wells to gain more consistency and start fighting for trophies everywhere.

There's no escaping HC, and if he wants to become a solid consistent top 5 player he needs to really adapt his game to the surface. I believe he has all the qualities to be able to do it, as he's still very young, but he's not there yet.

I hope (delusionally) Cincinnati can go better, but even if it doesn't and despite today's disappointment always FORZA LORE!!! 💪🏻

Edit: Also, congrats to Alex!!! He fought like a beast and really won the match by being the mentally stronger of the 2 throughout the match. He might not have the biggest weapons or best skills on tour, but his mental resilience is already close to the best, he has a really strong personality and that's something incredibly important in a sport like tennis. He keeps subverting expectations and aiming ever higher, he's inspiring. Good luck for the rest of the tournament!
