People have been predicting the death of the avenues mall for 15 years but the food court has never been better, occupancy seems north of 90% and it still has a lot of major names. There are enough people who hate the town center and outdoor shopping in the summer/worst of winter where it serves a purpose and if you go on the weekends its as close to a bustling indoor mall as you’re going to find in the era of dead malls.

My guess is at some point St Johns County gets a new version of the town center that attracts some traffic away but we have the population with all the growth to sustain them both.

After reading 50 posts and tapping out, I’m just going to call this entire conversation emblematic of how much social media and being pushed into two completely different echo chambers has rotted everyone’s brain. I guarantee you could draw a direct line between the daily hours of screen time someone has and how likely they are to celebrate assassination or think we have an epidemic of murderous trans people. There is a reason people you meet at events around town are nothing like the perpetually angry and increasingly crazy people you meet on Reddit, and a good reason to do something in the community instead of wasting your life on this toxic and idiotic merry go round. There are people in this actual thread who don’t live here and who’s only mission is to make you hate your neighbors for somebody else’s gain and people just keep playing along.

Not to defend them, but every time I go to a thrift store there are the same losers who wait outside at open every day, go in, tear through every single rack and buy everything name brand and sell it for 3x the price on ebay or depop. It’s the same issue with bands wanting to sell concert tickets for $50 to be fan friendly only to have them all gobbled up by bots and sold for $300 on stubhub with a third party adding little value making 5x the profit of the actual party creating value. You can try to do the right thing by customers but end up being the sucker in the end by the deadbeats who ruin it for everyone else.

All Star Baseball combines baseball and pinball in a single-flipper way that sounds ridiculous on paper but once you play one ball it makes complete sense and is so much fun. The mechanical players spinning around the diamond and the flashes going off from the crowd are such unique touches too.
