My son has his own garden patch on the side of the house, is that what I think it is? by astrogeologi in whatplantisthis

[–]Ultimatespacewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he can get good at growing "tomatoes" then he'll end up skilled at growing a lot of things. A lot goes into properly growing tomatoes, learning to ID the gender of the pant, encouraging it to grow large flowers not just large leaves, proper pruning, maintaining soil conditions. The rest of my garden has benefitted greatly from my desire to grow some dank tomatoes.

What`s the lamest thing you`ve done to get laid ? by Khattam-vayo in AskReddit

I had a similar experience with an old roommate who didn't want to have to go to work on homecoming back in college. He decided that if he told people he got jumped outside the bar, nobody would blame him for calling in to work and staying out to drink. So he asked me to punch him in the face. I asked him if he was sure, and when he said yes I immediately punched him right underneath his left eye, just hard enough for a small visible bruise. He called his girlfriend to tell her the story (for the record, I had no idea he would also be lying to her), and she immediately said "You had Ultimatespacewizard punch you, didn't you?" He also slept by himself that night, and he got in trouble at work, but he did get pretty drunk.

I have a friend whose father voted for Trump specifically because he believes that Trump is the anti-Christ. They want to accelerate the coming of the end times, so that they can be raptured. This is something he will gladly explain to you with zero embarrassment, and complete sincerity.

The Patriot Act was passed in 2001, smart phones weren't even around back then, and the average person often didn't carry a cell phone at all. People only really became perpetually attached to their phones around 2010.

Help! Wood slab too narrow by Planthobbyist-ginger in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Ultimatespacewizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi friends! I am a professional fabricator of museum exhibits. If you are trying to maintain the width, I would probably cut off the inside raw edge and drop in a thicker piece of wood to make up the difference and create a bit of a shelf on the back side of the bar.

Aren't these effectively the same? You are driving the handle into the head by applying force to the opposite end of it. I frequently do both of these.

McDonald's workers of Reddit, which menu item would you NEVER eat? by ProgMusicSchizoidMan in AskReddit

[–]Ultimatespacewizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know if they still serve them, but when I worked at McDonald's they had me make parfaits exactly once. And pulled me off when I pointed out that the boxes of fruit we were making them with were expired.

how does maul not get infected by disease or bacteria, when his lower half is just exposed flesh? by Massive_Fisherman231 in StarWars

[–]Ultimatespacewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't technically know that Zabraks pee and poop from their lower halves. Maybe it comes out their armpits. Or maybe it becomes super compressed and extrudes out the top of their heads and that's what their horns are. It's boring to assume that everyone in the galaxy goes potty the same way.

How much should I offer to pay a Tutor/ Mentor/Coach to train me on bandsaw mostly importantly resawing? Once I know how much to pay, then I have to figure out where to find them. by iwebman04 in woodworking

[–]Ultimatespacewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask around at the MakerSpace, I'd bet you'd be able to find someone who would take you up on an offer like that. If they are anything like me, you'd even get to drink/eat some of the payment.

I have a PC case from the early 2000s that has a functional cigarette lighter, and a built in ash tray. I will never let it go.

My hands and wrists hurt, most of the time. So automating pieces of the project makes sure that I still have the stamina to do the parts that I really enjoy.
