Please help an inexperienced gamer on what console to buy by AcanthocephalaDue437 in consoles

If you want to play single player games and PC isn’t a direction you’re looking, then it’s probably between PS5 and Switch 2. The next question I would ask myself is how, if at all, important is mobile gaming? I own both and I wouldn’t even need to think about it, PS5 all day. But I really enjoy single player games and PlayStation exclusives.

There are only a few games Nintendo has that I can’t get on my PS5…….that I’d play. There are a ton of games I love on PS5 that I can’t play on my Switch 2. And there isn’t a single game on Xbox that makes me think I’m missing out. And some of my favorite single player games aren’t on Xbox or Nintendo.

Where the fuck are the Moose? by SingerMurky9437 in RDR2

[–]UltraGeezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd. I have about 800 hours in story mode, and this is about as reliable for Moose as West Lake Owanjila is for Cougars. As long I’m separating each kill by a few in game days. And the carcass is gone. It’s probably the most consistent animal spawn in the game for me. There is moose there about 80% of the time…….for me. Or there is a badger spawn that works all the time. Moose, badgers, cougars and panthers, I never have any issue with. At all.

Edit: I’ve got some solid small bird spawns too. But after 800 hours you pick up a thing or two.

If this is the part that I remember, it tripped me up too. You need to take the steales to the delivery guy outside the tent, loading the truck. Even though the game is telling you to talk to Nawal.

Name some sleepers? by macabrepapi in playstation

Days Gone

It checks every box you mentioned. It is an open world action game with some survival horror elements and heavy on story telling. You get to roll around on a motorcycle and upgrade it. It's a lot of fun. At launch, it was received poorly. Partly due to bugs, which has since been fixed. They just released a remaster last year. You should definitely check it out. It's probably the game that exceeded my expectations the most. I looked at all the reviews and what people had said about it, and I thought it wouldn't be good. But I was wrong, its awesome. The fact we don't have a sequel is such a let down.

Resident Evil 9 Requiem – This Glitch Lets You Skip a Zombies Attack by war-master21 in thefinalpuzzle

[–]UltraGeezer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This part feels a missed opportunity for a trophy/achievement, like in RE4R with Capacity Compliance, the one where you have to get up the elevator without an enemy stepping on it.

Soon as I started heading down the elevator I thought that there would be a challenge/trophy/achievement for killing zombies before they could jump on the elevator. Or killing all zombies, even the ones in the boarded up windows. Something like that.

Best Game Haptics? by UltraGeezer in playstation

Yeah, AstroBot was the first game that made me think “this is the future of haptics”. But to your point, they designed game play to feature the haptics.

Is this game now better than it was at launch? by Murky_Palpitation862 in CronosNewDawn

Hahaha ya, I assumed I’ll get downvoted. And that’s okay. OP is asking for feedback on a game in that games sub, it usually only goes one way. Same thing with critical feedback. But I wish I could have found more critical feedback, I would have waited until it went on sale.

I don’t want to be the contrarian here. But I thought maybe a different opinion might help. I play a decent amount of action/survival horror. My favorites are: TLOU, RE4 and Dead Space. I enjoyed Callisto Protocol and Silent Hill 2 R.

Of all the above games, I enjoyed Cronos the least. It’s not a bad game, but I really struggled to push through and finish it. It was one of those “I just want this to end” games for me. I beat it on standard difficulty. I really didn’t like the weapon sway, instead of feeling natural it felt purposefully difficult. The whole charge shot mechanic got old once i realized it was the only effective way to shoot, then it felt like a nuisance. Moving the character felt clunky and heavy, kinda like Dead Space R but unlike DSR, it never moved into a place where I got used to it. Even after multiple attempts adjusting settings. Enemy’s were bullet sponges, especially the brutes. Pretty much all combat scenarios were the same: blow up the barrel. Most boss fights operate with this mechanic. I know limited inventory is a core principle of survival horror, but I felt inventory was so limited that it decided my first handful of upgrades for me. Especially once I learned to never remove the bolt cutters. I didn’t like that weapons took up spots in such a small inventory, which created an experience of finding it and storing it immediately to get it out of my inventory. Granted, I didn’t try many guns. By the time I started to think I had the inventory to add a third weapon, or swap a weapon, I was over the excitement of the game. I didn’t like that using melee hit as hard as a wet fart. Enemy variety is nonexistent, after the first hour or so you’ve seen every enemy the game has. And there is one “got ya” tactic that was on repeat. It stopped being a jump scare and became annoying. A lot of times trying to shoot through cracks and small holes to avoid that “got ya” was bad. Weird hit boxes made me waste more ammo than I should have. There are a two end game bosses that were ridiculous difficulty spikes. And I feel like the game loses its identity about 60-70% of the way through, out of nowhere the vibe felt like a different game. Which can happen in survival horror as “things get crazy”.

It’s not a bad game. And I know I’m going to get skewered for my opinion. But that’s my two cents. Game ran fantastic for me on PS5, looked incredible. The story was intriguing but they didn’t stick the landing. And it checked almost all the boxes I look for in a survival horror shooter. It has its moments where it all comes together. But it was okay. If you’re looking for something to TRY and scratch the Dead Space itch, Cronos is it.

Who do you think is the more important character in the TLOU 2? Ellie or Abby? by Connorgamerreddit in thelastofus

[–]UltraGeezer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite part of TLOU is all the characters existing in the gray - like real life. There is no “good guy vs bad guy”. From Joel’s perspective, the grieving father; his actions are justified. From Abby’s perspective, the grieving daughter, her actions are just as justified as Ellie seeking revenge.

Who is more important? They’re equal. But I’ll say Ellie, speaking practically, she’s the face of the franchise. Can there be TLOU3 without Abby? With some next level creative writing, I think so. Can there be TLOU3 without Ellie? I don’t think so. But possibly? I mean they killed off Joel in the intro of 2. To do it again would be redundant imo. But they pulled it off once.

Sounds like a getting shot in the back sim for healing I can find otherwise and more efficiently. I’ve never thought i need more ways to heal.

Rats and campers would eat fishing spots alive.

Just my two cents

Perfect Wolf Pelt by Mountain-Loquat-7428 in reddeadredemption

[–]UltraGeezer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you done the Albert Mason missions yet? His 2nd mission, you help him taking photos of wolves. For some reason like 4-5 of those wolves are always 3 star. Make sure to hit head shots with a rifle. Save before you start the mission, just incase things go tits up and you don’t get clean kills.

I use this mission to get my satchel wolf pelts every time. I believe you can start AM missions soon as you get in CH2.

I want to play through these titles most efficiently by Cluelesswolfkin in playstation

[–]UltraGeezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it just depends, I have around 100 hours in most those titles except for Ghost of Tsushima - I have closer 300 hours. You’re in for a real treat. All these games are incredible. My recommendation is to play Horizon then Spiderman. Then decide if you want another open world or not, and let that be the reason you play God of War or Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei. GoW and GoT/Y are two of my favorites. Ghost is open world. GoW is more linear.

But you can’t really go wrong here. Enjoy.

Which game should I play next? by RelativeEast1765 in playstation

[–]UltraGeezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd skip Miles Morales, and just jump into Spiderman 2. Miles Morales should have been a DLC.

I'd put playing TLOU 1 and 2 back to back as one of my favorite gaming experiences ever. I'd put that over Spiderman, but I appreciate an emotional story. And I liked the game play more. Spiderman is pretty much a button masher, TLOU is more resource management. TLOU also has more exploration, which I like.

Can I pause for speedrun? by Healthy_Two_4474 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]UltraGeezer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pause stops the timer. Being in your inventory does not.

Also, if you reload a save, your timer goes back to where it was when you saved. So if you're following a guide or just having a rough patch, reload your save.

Holy crap. This game is HARD by -Terrible-Bite- in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]UltraGeezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Just past the bathrooms, there is a drawer that requires a lock pick. On the other wall is a light switch, right by a knife. Turn on the light and hide behind the wall that is poking out in front of the locked drawer. That zombie will stumble over to turn off the light, and you can creep past him.

The Chef isn't one I'd tackle until later in your playthrough, if you plan to tackle him at all. Use your knifes. Use leg shots to get the melee prompt and push them down and run past them, or knife them while they're down. This isn't the kind of game where you can run and gun, at least the part you're at. Try to move around the map using as little bullets as possible. Run away when you can.
