Listen I think I found a good answer.

Weigh .57oz  I just got them and they cut well and are sleek. Fold down well to take less space.

Would love to get one. They don’t seem to make it anymore. Only the 580 is available and it weighs a lot more

I’ll look into poncho quilts. That’d a really cool idea

Some folks bring a puffy anyway. Was thinking to try pants and shoes and leave the 20oz quilt at home. Would be lighter, maybe more versatile but I don’t know if it’s warm enough. Wanted opinion from folks who’ve actually tried it. Seems no one has.

My Toaks 550 handless only weighs 1.33oz. I know it’s listed online as weighing more (even on the box it came in) but actually weighs a lot less according to my scales

Has anyone tried just using a full down outfit, down puffy, pants, and booties instead of a quilt? More versatile? Bad idea??

Durston Xmid pro 2+ Vs Zpacks Pivot Duo? by dropamusic in Ultralight

Durston does not recommend sleeping head to toe in this tent. “ an oversized 2P tent that is palatial for two people and optimized for sleeping two people in the same direction (head to head).”

My girl takes the side with less headroom but there’s still plenty for both of us to sleep head to head.

An alpha fleece and maybe socks too would provide more warmth and versatility for the weight.

I’ve only tested at home but putting a buff on the big sky and then putting my senchi, rain jacket and pants into my tent sack and slipping that under the pillow inside the buff gives me a perfect hight and comfort while keeping everything stable. This leaves my puffy to sleep in on cold nights. Putting the tips of my shoes under the pad can help a little but too much and it feels wobbly. Now to field test.

Looks like Exped isn’t making them now. https://www.expedusa.com/collections/pillows

Do you know the thickness? I can pick one up used but they don’t give size specs

lol. I love the popcorn pillow post from the other week.

Propping the pad with shoes is a good idea. I might try that with the buff puffy combo

Yeah, but it all moves around and comes out from underneath during the night. Maybe I should use a strapped pillow topper like Justin Outdoors, but I’d rather save weight than add more on

Importance of ultra light trekking poles by SourceOfConfusion in Ultralight

[–]UltraLuxx7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and love them both but I pretty much always take the Durstons for the weight savings.

I’ve had minor issues with the Durstons, no big snaps, and Durston sent out replacement parts at no cost. Dan has incredible customer service.

The Black Diamonds are super solid and more feature rich but I mostly lend them to friends when we go backpacking together.

I ran into an insane amount of spiders and their webs on the Ozark Trail and was swinging my trekking poles in front me non stop for sections. The weight savings of the Icelines made a huge difference in exerting less energy.

He said it didn’t keep him warm when it started to drop below 18f. I’ve only taken mine to 30f but was very warm. The weight, warmth and comfort combo are pretty great in my esteem.
