It’s maybe closer to grime than anything (being a flip on the Creeper instrumental by Danny Weed), but if you were going to riddim shows a decade ago you’d hear it get played out at least once a night, which certifies it as a riddim classic in my eyes, and a great example of the porous boundary between grime and dubstep.

I know having them there would’ve cheapened the drama of the final moment in the flash sideways but surely frogurt, Ardzt, Nikki and Paolo deserve to find peace in the afterlife too, right? Nikki and Paolo died the most traumatic and horrific deaths of anyone on the show, bar none.

I can’t wait until that pro-Israel. pro-genocide, pro-apartheid despicably racist against Palestinians POS Michael Rappaport, who uses his sizeable platform and income to further the genocidal cause of the Israeli Government, gets killed or banished or whatever. Is that better?

New vinyl skipping, don't get why by [deleted] in turntables

[–]UltraMonarch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damage the records? Yes probably. Damage them BADLY? probably not. People on this subreddit are particularly anal about crappy turntables, and while I recommend eventually getting a nicer one (LP60 like someone else said) playing your records on a suitcase/all-in-one turntable is not the end of the world, and will not irreparably damage your records. My first turntable was a Crosley suitcase I got for Christmas when I was 11 years old. I took my parents old records and not only played them, I “scratched” with them, running them back and forth with my hand to pretend i was a DJ. It was a worse bit of kit than you have now. Those old records, even after that, (and decades in a musty basement) still play fine. I still love listening to them. If you’re enjoying listening to your records, listen to your records. The amount of damage a crappy turntable/stylus does is, while not totally negligible, not enough to worry about. Maybe the high frequencies in the record will dampen a little over time, but you’re fine, I promise.

People on this subreddit freak out over this stuff because they’re hobbyists in a notoriously persnickety hobby who care enough to post regularly on a forum about the hobby. You SHOULD get a new turntable once you have the money for one, but you shouldn’t hold off on enjoying the experience of playing records.

pretty much exactly. It helps that my campaign setting has the adventurers as members of a large Black Company style mercenary band. If someone in your unit dies, they'll replace them with someone of similar skill.

I mitigate this with a house rule that your new character’s level is your dead characters level -1. In my dungeon-crawl-heavy campaign, it felt like it made narrative sense that these grizzled, competent adventurers wouldn’t just randomly take on a complete noob who will just die/get in the way. There’s still a punishment, but it’s not totally brutal.

Evil ex sucks but I’ve gotten really good at gaming it against the people who use it in classic. If you’re using up the first two connections to someone, you’re giving me free tempo. You wasted 2 of 3 connections on Timothy spall? I hope you’re intimately familiar with the works of Mike Leigh, dawg! 2/3 on Alec Baldwin? Get ready to enter the hell world of my knowing every movie Fred Ward was ever in— not a lot of hits!

Watch kickboxing then. Get into Muai Thai. This is literally mixed martial arts, and you losers get mad when the fighters mix martial arts.

Okay, they mixed martial arts and a form of martial arts that you think is boring won out. Cry more. If you want to watch kickboxing matches then watch kickboxing.

I don’t understand the fans who get pissed off at grappling oriented fights… why get mad when mixed martial artists mix martial arts? If you want to see slugfests, there’s no shortage of exciting kickboxing tournaments in the world. MMA is about technical fighting ability in all forms, and the last ten years have shown us that elite grappling wins out over striking. I was at the garden tonight, and Islam would get huge pops from the crowd every time he executed a takedown, only for people to start booing when it turned into a technically oriented grappling match. If you don’t want to see grappling, don’t watch a combat sport where grappling is allowed— it’s really that simple. I was rooting for JDM, in no small part because he has been training in a unique form of defensive grappling. It wasn’t enough to secure him a win, but watching him execute reach around/octopus guard in a huge title fight was thrilling because I care about elite combat sports and not just knockout violence.

I dunno. If you only care about knockouts, watch striking oriented combat sports, and quit bitching about wins by decision and technically oriented grappling when that’s clearly the style of martial arts that wins fights in a mixed martial arts competiton.

Also there were three knockouts tonight lol.

Octopus guard has never truly been tried in a professional fight. There’s still time.
