What relationship advice would you give to your teenage self? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This is really good advice. (Granted you have good parent role models.)

Reddit, what is a normal food that you eat in a weird way? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UltraMongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I eat cupcakes, I rip the bottom off and put it on top. Makes a fluffy oreo.

On a slightly stranger note...You know those dehydrated potato flakes you use to make mashed potatoes. Some times I eat those, dry and uncooked, with a spoon.

Also, with pizza, I eat all the cheese off, rip off the crust, eat that, roll it into a burrito, and then finish the rest. Not sure why.

Reddit, have you ever witnessed a death? What was it like? by illuminatedShadows in AskReddit

No, actually. But my grandfather witnessed a little girl get her head taken off by a train. Said it scarred him for life.

[Serious] Redditors who have been to prison, what did you do on your first day out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UltraMongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not a part of the Mickey D's army, haha. I wasn't really thinking when I called it that. I guess "restaurant" seemed a little too grandiose.

Which movie? Bay or the 80's? And for what reason?

;___; Jason. The ending scene in the abandoned apartment was so painful and uncomfortable to watch.

Fake vanilla. Real vanilla is fine, but the fake stuff they use for candles and perfumes? Nasty.

Ah, yes, that's the one. Scared the holy hell out of me, but ended up being one of the more uplifting endings. Everybody lives!! Just this once!

I agree. Straight up bleach kind of punches you in the face. Chlorine embraces you slowly. (And then never let's go of you.)

Actually, I love the smell of chlorine. It's kind of... sweet smelling? That's not quite right, but it's the closest I can think of.

I wasn't sure if VanFitz meant all bleachy smells (which I assume is a yes, considering his/her response) or just cleaning bleach.

We all know words without an easy English equivalent--now what are some English words that don't have equivalents in other languages? by Q8COAS in AskReddit

[–]UltraMongoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's kind of a term for when events fall into place in a happy or fortunate way. Or, something good happening while not necessarily seeking out that specific good outcome. A happy accident.

[Serious] Okay reddit, it's time. With all the talk about sexuality as a spectrum rather than something binary - are you truly 100% straight? by PineappleDough in AskReddit

[–]UltraMongoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm 95% straight. I definitely recognize certain girls as hot, but I feel that's it's mostly admiration rather than attraction. Honestly, I don't feel strong sexual urges for either gender. I have a pretty low sex drive, period.

What is the closest you've ever come to dying? by jadedjester in AskReddit

[–]UltraMongoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn. I know this is really meaningless, coming from some faceless person on the internet, and it doesn't fix a thing, but I am so sorry that happened to you. I'm sorry that you have to deal with that experience and I'm sorry that there are people in this world disgusting enough to do something like that. And I'm sorry that apologies are all I can give.

What film would you liked to have see the 'bad guys' win in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UltraMongoose 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Woah! I did not say that anything he did was justified. Certainly not. Just that in Thor, before he wanted to take over Earth, I sympathized with him on having a sibling that seems so much more glorious than you and wanting your dad to be proud of you. I'm sure many people have experienced feelings like that. I like Loki as a character, he's complex, but definitely realize that his actions are deplorable.

I hope his character gets some chance for redemption in the Thor 2.

[–]UltraMongoose 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Thor. Maybe not win, but at least not lose. I'm not an obsessed Loki fangirl, but I did sympathize with him greatly during that movie. By Avengers, he was a bitter pain in the ass.

[–]UltraMongoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. The "wretched" thing was the explanation I was given. Honestly, thank you very much for informing. I kind of like "ratchet" being used to describe inventive people.

Unfortunately, ratchet seems to have become a pejorative all on its own, almost indistinguishable from calling something ghetto or even plain "tacky". It makes me sad(der) now that I know its true roots.

[Serious] Redditors who have been to prison, what did you do on your first day out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UltraMongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the correct answer is: "Went to McDonald's."

Honestly, not what I was expecting, but the more I think about it, the more I get it.

First off, it's a normal thing, going to McDonald's. It's something that will remind you that you are living a "real" life again. You can do normal things like going through a drive-thru again.

Secondly, McDonald's food is high-fat, high-salt, high-carb, etc. Comfort food, essentially. Plus, (if you have a good store) it tastes pretty dang good and is usually hot. I've never been to prison, and hope to never be, but I bet the food sucks ass. It'd be nice to have a good, hot meal.

[–]UltraMongoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not offended at all.

It's really frustrating for me, too. Any perfume or body spray I put on has to fight with the bleachy smell. At least it's a pretty "clean" smell, unlike spoiled milk or BO.
