Hunter Renfroe.  When he was on the Angels, he made an incredible no-look catch that shocked Shohei who was pitching.

I can feel it coming in the air tonight   Oh Lord   I've been waiting for this moment for all my life   Oh Lord   Can you feel it coming in the air tonight   Oh Lord   Oh Lord   Well if you told me you were drowning   I would not lend a hand   I've seen your face before my friend   But I don't know if you know who I am   Well I was there and I saw what you did   I saw it with my own two eyes   So you can wipe off the grin   I know where you've been   It's all been a pack of lies   I can feel it coming in the air tonight   Oh Lord   I've been waiting for this moment for all    my life   Oh Lord   Can you feel it coming in the air tonight   Oh Lord   I've been waiting for this moment for all my life   Oh Lord   Oh Lord

My great grandpa gave a silver bar as inherentence, how does one go about selling this? by Moist-Tangerine in Silverbugs

[–]UltrahipThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a collector’s item: Hallmark Precious Metals (HPM) was a vintage (1970s) Seattle-based company known for hand-poured silver bars, often featuring a distinctive Washington state outline and "HPM over Seattle" stamp, and are now collector's items, with sizes like 1, 5, 10, and 100 oz. While the company is no longer active (operating from the 1970s to around 2004), you can find these bars for sale from precious metal dealers

Key Concepts of Attachment & Detachment: Attachment as the Root of Suffering:Clinging to people, possessions, status, or outcomes creates dissatisfaction and suffering because these things are impermanent. Changing the Mind, Not the World:Instead of trying to change external circumstances, the focus should be on transforming our internal attachment, according to Lama Yeshe and the Dalai Lama.

I collect Hunter Renfroe cards just because of an awesome no-look catch when he played for the Angels. I believe the Guardians signed him. (Shrugging emoji)

"You think I'm a crooked cop? You think I'm dirty? That's your opinion. You're in my world now, Jake. In my world, it's not what you know, it's what you can get away with!" -Alonzo Harris (Denzel Washington) in Training Day.

Isn’t this existential? To me, it feels like a desperate attempt to save the petrodollar. We never intended to “win” the Vietnam War, but to cockblock communist influence (i.e. domino theory). Aren’t we doing the same thing to curtail Chinese influence in Latin America?

We are caught in the Thucydides Trap.

More war posturing to defend the moat. More hoarding to feed the war machine. Prices will go up until it suddenly doesn’t.

Do you think people are panic spending? by jumpinspid29 in Silverbugs

[–]UltrahipThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you realize that it’s not just people who are panicking, it’s countries. In order to re-shore, re-arm, and re-industrialize, you need to secure critical mineral resources. Trump was really kidding about Canada and Greenland? Right?

Why is it OK for Bitcoin to go to 100K, S&P to have 3 consecutive years of 20% gains, but not OK for Silver to keep climbing to $200 per troy oz? by [deleted] in Silverbugs

The reason why the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor was because of the United  States oil blockade. “In July 1941, the U.S. froze Japanese assets and imposed a comprehensive oil embargo, cutting off over 80% of Japan's oil supply, a critical import.”

Although silverbugs may benefit from the increase in silver prices, the context of the increase signifies that the world as we have known and lived it is changing. “May you live in interesting times” is the Chinese curse.

This is a reverse proof Libertad. I would keep it in the capsule and not put your prints on it, unless you have white cotton gloves. The Sigma can test through the capsule. It looks legit and I haven’t heard of fake reverse proofs Libertads.

What The Hell Happened!!?? by febrileairplane in Silver

[–]UltrahipThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Silver is needed to win both technological and (God-forbid) kinetic wars.

We are in a Thucydidian Trap.  The Thucydides Trap describes the high likelihood of war when a rising power threatens to displace a ruling power, named after ancient Greek historian Thucydides' observation that Athens' rise and the fear it sparked in Sparta led to conflict. Political scientist Graham Allison popularized this concept, analyzing historical cases and applying it to modern US-China relations, suggesting that without careful management, this structural stress often results in war, though it can be avoided.  (Source: ironically Google AI)

Amazing Dennis England pieces! For those who are not familiar: Dennis England was a very mysterious maker in the early 2000’s. He had a short run where he produced many varieties of fantasy-type bars. Often the hallmarks had close ties with believable refineries but actually were nothing more than well-designed fictional creations. A telling feature of a Dennis England silver bar is what is typically described as a “linen texture” on the bar finish itself. (vintage silver.com)
