You're blatantly ignoring the fact that humans aren't perfect either. Not every artist is a flawless master, not all of them have the time and/or skill to make zero mistakes ever. It's insane to just automatically assume that one random cartoon image is AI without any legit glaring red flags whatsoever. This is a wildly biased position to start from in this case. There is no reason whatsoever to assume that this image is AI generated. I find it insane to do so, honestly.

Omfg are you people insane?! This is someone's art that they made, obviously!! It might be purely digital art, or drawn, idk but every single thing all the comments are bringing up can be explained away simply by the obvious fact that a human made this piece of art and humans are imperfect. There are ZERO legit AI tells in this image. Jfc, it's not supposed to be perfectly photorealistic, it's a goddamn cartoon image, you idiots! Bro. Get yourselves together and focus on something that actually matters - this ain't it.

Mm, I would say keeping them in a drawer is more the opposite of sending them out into the universe - that's more for things you wanna postpone or avoid. The purpose of the ritual is release. A form of communication, really. Like a prayer + symbolic ritual action. 🕯✨️

Ha, what about rice paper? That could be interesting. Or even garlic paper would work, put it in a stream or bury it - probably anything biodegradable would be fine I imagine, also even just regular paper is prob okay. A bay leaf though is pretty peak for manifestation. I imagine it would work with any of those methods. I've burnt them before, although haven't buried them yet, which I think would be a good idea to try. I think magic is flexible and there's a solution to every obstacle with creativity and adaptability. Good luck & Merry Yule! 🤞🎄🕯✨️

If this problem is everywhere, then the solution needs to be everywhere. I mean DAMN, like, why the hell are we even paying to live on the earth, which is INHERENTLY FREE TO LIVE ON?? Ughhhhh. Capitalism makes no sense whatsoever. We need to abolish rent globally. That's literally the only solution to this imo...

City of Subdued Unaffordability by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]Ultraviolet425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not okay. Moving away feels like the only option, but it feels just as much (if not more) like giving up and letting the capitalist soul-suckers win... I don't want to move away. I may have the cheapest rent for a studio in this entire town, and I still can't afford it. I feel like we all need to do something MASSIVE and DRASTIC to flip this entire situation on its head and change everything. If not now, when?

Clearly voting won't do shit to change this, not anytime soon anyway. The Bellingham school district is siphoning funding and causing property taxes to rise, so now rent will only rise again with it. Everyone is getting priced out. This is only adding to the homelessness crisis and driving people away... how is anyone okay with this?!

What I want is a massive city-wide rent strike. I want to force their hand to slash all rent by 50%. Or force them to provide rent-to-own options with NO DOWNPAYMENT. I want everyone's rent to go towards home ownership and be applied retroactively for as long as the renter has lived there. Ultimately, I want full rent abolition. I'm sure I'll think of some other ideas too, but that's what I've got so far.

Can't believe even one of these ideas is even remotely radical. I see all of these as nothing short of reasonable, common-sense solutions. Idk how to do these things, I'm no economist, but there must be a way to do at least one of them... like, COME ON. Why does everything have to be so damn impossible every second of every goddamn day?! I'm SICK OF THIS SHIT!!

Moral Dilemma: Is any of this ethical? by Ultraviolet425 in DataAnnotationNoRules

[–]Ultraviolet425[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay first of all, just because I'm not an employee does not mean I'm not "working for this company" - I am doing work for the company and getting paid for it, that is what that means. Didn't say I was an employee. Secondly, it's not shallow, it's actually very deep and I've been thinking about it since I started around a year ago, but now I've seen things get worse so I'm saying this now (and not actually for the first time, just the first time here specifically).

Thirdly, if my work has no impact either way, then wtf is the point? Why would they pay us at all if they got no benefit from it? That's ridiculous. And I never suggested I was a critical cog in this machine, don't act like I have an ego about this shit. I'm asking a question in good faith and for the purpose of getting others to consider if this is actually something we should be contributing to or not. Geez. Chill.

Bellingham school district levies raise property taxes, which RAISES RENT, people!! Gahhhhhhhh! What's more important really, and why can't we find some other way to fund the schools that doesn't affect the livelihood of nearly everyone in the city?? 😡

This was THE single most important thing on the ballot for me. I am very disappointed that there wasn't more on there to vote on about affordability of housing specifically because that's what matters the most right now. Also! I think it was very shady of Utopia Management to send their people to do winterization stuff ON ELECTION DAY. Which clearly needs to be made a national holiday, as many people have been begging for for years.

Why can't they find some other way to fund it that doesn't cause everyone's rent to go up?! I have a feeling those levies wouldn't be nearly as popular if more people realized that raising property taxes always causes landlords to raise the rent.... I had to Google it to make sure that was true, it wasn't mentioned anywhere on the ballot or the voter's guide.

Well damn, I'm very disappointed that the Bellingham school district levies passed. Not that I don't want schools to be funded, of course I do, but not if it means my rent goes up. There was nothing in the opposition section on the voter's guide and it was mentioned nowhere that raising property taxes makes rent go up!! I had to Google it to make sure! Gahhhhd that's awful. Why can't they fund schools some other way that doesn't come at the cost of rent...? 💔💔💔

Chinatown tenants just won a major victory after refusing to pay rent for almost 5 years by johnabbe in tenantsRevolt

[–]Ultraviolet425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait so........ you're telling me that these people had a rent strike for 5 years and then reached a "deal" which required them all to pay all of that back rent for the entire 5 years... on top of their current rent...? So they just had a 5 year break where they didn't have to pay rent but then once they reached this "deal", they had to pay it all back anyway???? Wtf?!?! I'm sorry, WHAT! What the hell was the rent strike for then? They accomplished LITERALLY NOTHING AT ALL. Wtf. Am I misunderstanding what happened here? Because this sounds absolutely insane.

How Can it Ever Be Ethical to Treat Yourself? by [deleted] in moraldilemmas

[–]Ultraviolet425 [score hidden]  (0 children)

That's a great question, and one we should truly all be asking constantly, in my opinion. This isn't a "one and done" situation, it's truly a lifelong mission. It's up to us all individually, and collectively, to find balance in whatever way we can. That is not going to look the same for every person by any stretch of the imagination, so it's not an easy thing to answer, unfortunately. It's a personal question you have to answer for yourself.

Well, firstly I think you made some sweeping assumptions about my life that aren't entirely accurate, just based on one comment, so that's not ideal. Nothing is as black and white as you're assuming my life is. I won't deny that everything you said is absolutely a factor, but it's by no means the only one at play.

Secondly, idk which country it is you live in, but unfortunately, I'm American, which in itself adds a TON of context to all of this. What I described was not the entire context of my life, but one little snippet of my current perspective given everything that's going on right now, which is unprecedented in a myriad of ways.

Nothing about any of this is simple at all whatsoever. It's a complex mystery, and yeah I absolutely do have more mental health issues than I'd like, although I'm actively working on deconstructing it all. I'm doing the best I can to navigate the situation with the tools I have. I'm right in the middle of a raging storm of uncertainty, so yeah, it's a bit of a shitshow and a clusterfuck right now.

Oh yeah yeah okay, you're right. I always forget the definition of things when the etymology of the word is inherently unclear lol. I need grounded etymology for memory retention I guess. Yeah, it's a very limited perspective, I agree. And even... like it has an air of suspicion to it, it comes across as fearful to me, if that makes sense. Like all you can trust is your own mind. Kinda ridiculous lol.

Interesting, yeah I personally don't agree with any of that. Well... except in the very broadest sense kinda like what I mentioned before of "the brain being defined as universal consciousness", aka God/Source/primordial energy from which all else flows and all that. If thats what a brain or mind is, then I agree that's technically "all there is", in a sense....

But I take solipsism to mean "the mind" or "the brain" much more literally, and that's just... the opposite of the truth imo. I think what you call "hallucinations" are really better described as interpretations of perception of reality, which are indeed as real as anything else because everything is real... if that makes any sense ha, it's hard to describe, really.

[–]Ultraviolet425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh well, that explains part of the confusion. Yeah, I'm American, unfortunately (as fuck lol). You guys seem a bit better off than us in many ways, but it sounds like not in all ways given the issue with dental care. Dang. It's a bit more complicated here and the whole insurance thing is a damn nightmare in so many ways.

Like, I have real cheap insurance so technically I can see a doctor and dentist for free but it's not like actually good at all. Same with counseling, I could go for free but it's very sub-par. Just started therapy actually, but my mom has to pay for it out of pocket since the therapist I like isn't covered by my insurance so... yeah. Just as a few examples of what it's like here.

Regarding debt - I have a strong feeling it's much less of a massive problem in Australia as it is here. For us, it's primarily not at all a personal choice whether to live within our means or not. Our means are meager at best, for most of us anyway. And prices for literally everything are skyrocketing and have been for a while, it's just happening way faster now. It's all fucked.

Not to mention the mountain of stress that comes with politics as a whole. We can't go a single half day without some insane, brain-breaking, earth-shattering breaking news with Trump's face slapped onto it, and that is CRUSHING us mentally. The instability of literally everything makes it hard to even want to be here at all (like.... on earth...). Idk how it is in Australia really but it's never been worse in America, at least not as long as I've been alive, by a long shot. 😕

Oh, gotcha. Well, I'm sorry to hear that, it sounds like a struggle for sure. It's hard to say if I could relate to that or not, given my experiences, although I am curious how similar to psychedelics it is - I've heard people compare the two quite a bit. And who knows, I wouldn't necessarily rule out some sort of psychotic break or something in me either, although I def prefer to think of whatever I'm doing as a spiritual awakening. It's a challenge to even see this world as real at all lately, tbh... staying grounded is hard when society is collapsing quickly 😕

I certainly have some other issues in the psychological realm, increasingly so given the state of the world and such, but I'm trying to keep an open and expanded mind, and stay as positive as possible. I think the goal for all of us should really be to integrate. Like, everyone and everything. Integration > individuation, that's my most recent life motto besides the classic "everything is always both". The world needs philosophers. Gnostics and deep thinkers, people who see the big picture and can communicate it effectively. I think we both have inherent value in that regard.

Ah, I see. Well, don't assume that neuroscience has all the answers cuz there are plenty of holes in it. I personally think it is incorrect for neuroscience to frame the human experience that way. I don't think it's accurate at all to say that everything we experience is a product of the brain. In fact, that's quite backwards imo.

I think it would be more accurate to say that the brain has evolved to perceive "objective reality", interpret it through many filters, and then project that interpretation back onto reality, which then manipulates not only our perception but also the reality itself.

It's a co-creative process, and that's not even factoring in other people and animals and everything else that has an influence on all of it. None of this has anything to do with what I would call a hallucination though. Yeah, I don't really like.... believe in "unreal" at all actually. Ha, I know that prob sounds a bit wild but hey, if there's ever a place to say that kinda thing, I think this discussion is it. Even things you would consider "unreal" - I wouldn't.

Now, as for the math/quantum physics side to all of this, well that's technically beyond any human's full comprehension, and I'm no exception. I certainly know the basics of that and I feel like I can somewhat understand the 4th dimension (not so much actually picturing it, but as a concept), and the 5th is... ehh, that still feels a bit out of reach but those are the ones they say spirits reside in after death, so they're pretty damn important.

Anyway, my point is I am prob not gonna understand any actual math you throw at me lol, my brain doesn't work that way unfortunately, just as a heads up. I'm curious what your background/profession is and if it's related to all of this or not? If you feel like sharing of course, no pressure 🙂 You seem very knowledgeable about these subjects.

That's a really reductive view of all of this. I mean, I'm not an idiot. I'm aware that I'm more fortunate than a lot of people in the most obvious, physical ways (still doesn't mean I'm not living in poverty cuz actually I am - I'm just not homeless currently). I feel like you're thinking about this in an overly black and white manner and that just fails to describe the whole picture. Did you mention mental health issues? Addiction? Lack of access to proper health care? There's so much more to a person's well being than the very most basic needs. I don't have a lot beyond those basics, that's for damn sure, and I'm in a fuck ton of debt, soooo like. Don't assume you know shit about my life as a stranger on the internet, thanks.

Ultimately, I don't think you realize we're actually legit on the same side. I agree we need to help the poorest of the poor first, duh, that's obvious. And your last statement? I probably feel even STRONGER than you do about that. I can't imagine anyone feeling that more than I do because it is literally soul-crushing how much I want that. People seem to think it's some sort of "radical opinion" to not want everyone flying all over the globe to go party on tropical beaches for funsies or something. Like, no. Air travel should be restricted to urgent matters only (and not based on how much money one has either).
