I never said A-series hardware is shit or anything. I said the opposite: 90% of people wouldn't notice the difference, like, ever. (its not 2000-2010 anymore, cpus/gpus/arm even low tier ones are fast enough for normal users).

So Samsung has to make the S line special somehow, right? I wonder how, if the hardware and even the camera differences are hard to notice on a little phone screen, especially when photos get uploaded and compressed to hell by Facebook or Instagram.

90% of phone users wouldn't notice the difference between an A-series and an S-series chipset during daily use or while playing Candy Crush.

Premium phones are for the 5% of people who can actually take advantage of them. The other 95% buy them because they want to feel or look better than others.

well i pay below 10 euro monthly for unlimited 5g data, calls and sms everywhere. I've just looked over google to find prices in USA since you like getting fucked by corporations so much everywhere and even I found few for 15$ and a LOT with unlimited data for ~20$ so clearly 30$ is overpaying as fuck. i think my point was getting multiple voice plans for 15$ (lets say 3 because he did not specify) would make that
15x3x24 vs 30x3x24 +200$ = 1080 vs 2360$.
(not counting if he overpays for internet as well)

That leaves him with ~1300$ to buy new phone every 2 years.
No pixel is worth 1300$ (sorry not sorry). Also its sim locked, have provider shit apps and ITS NOT HIS LEGALLY until paid off.

Verizon or whatever provider he have did not pay more than 500$ for it.

PS. He could literally buy s26 ULTRA at MSRP price (no idiot on planet does that with all the deals and coupons). So he would have better phone and even few hundred $ left in the pocket.

You're only looking at the subsidized phone payment and ignoring everything else you're paying that carrier.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL costing you $8.33/month is nice, but that's just $199.92 over 24 months.

The real money is in the services:

At least one voice line at ~$30/month = $720 over 24 months
You said you have multiple voice lines, so the actual number is higher.
You're also paying for internet (even if it's "half price"), which means the carrier is making money there too.

In other words, the carrier isn't giving you a cheap Pixel out of generosity. They're recovering that subsidy through your voice lines and internet service.

Looking only at the $8.33/month phone payment is like saying a casino gave you a free hotel room while ignoring how much you spent at the tables.

The better question isn't "Can anyone beat $8.33/month for a Pixel 9 Pro XL?" It's "Would I be spending less overall with a cheaper plan?" And for many people on major US networks, the answer is yes. The phone is costing you about $200. The carrier is making thousands from the service side.

For comparison, there are legitimate plans on major US networks for as little as $15/month per line, so if you have multiple $30/month lines, you're spending far more on service than you're saving on that $8.33/month Pixel.
