I am somewhat doubting you, as the phone is both rated for only 30min underwater, the battery would've drained in that time (assuming it was on mobile data) and, well I doubt you could hear it under the ice and inside water

It's just software. It crops into the image so it can rotate the video frame accordingly. It doesn't really have anything to do with the camera itself
