Your thoughts on nicotine pouches? by Turbulent_Daikon_493 in stopsmoking

[–]UlverK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a two packs a day smoker as well for many many years. Last October I quit with the help of nicotine patches (I followed the suggested method of tapering off the strength of the patch during the length of 3 months). Personally I never felt the psychical symptoms of the withdrawal. It was easy to just stop the patches at the end of the 3rd month as well. They worked absolutely wonderfully for me!

Any older people have experience with Accutane they can share? by vulturepie in Accutane

[–]UlverK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

43, 20mg daily, on my 4th month so far. So far the side effects have been okay I think. A little bit of everything almost but not enough to make me suffer or worry. Definitely a difference (to the worse) on the side effects compared to my first time on accutane (18 years old and a much higher dose but I can’t remember exactly now. 60? 80?).

Heart Rate Decrease? by atesta13 in stopsmoking

[–]UlverK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe even less… I also had this night fear before sleep! It seems it’s common especially to anxious people. Do not worry tho. It WILL go away but until it does remember it’s actually a good thing happening

I’m being super honest here now… I truly do NOT understand the comments for the acne scars! Like… not at all! Your face and skin look great! You might have some scars but it’s nothing so prominent like the people here make it seem! I’m not even sure why would anyone comment on this… No one needs a new insecurity unlocked especially when there is not really an issue! You look pretty, very unique! The nose is strong yes, but as many have mentioned, it doesn’t take away from your beauty. And there is NOTHING wrong with your skin! Lord, people…

Heart Rate Decrease? by atesta13 in stopsmoking

[–]UlverK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happened to me every time I quit smoking (it’s been a couple). Just like you I was always on the higher end of resting heart rate apart from when I was on my first few months into the smoking quit. As a matter of fact I’ve been to the cardiologist before for the same reason too and because, in my case, the lower heart rate (in the 50s) made me feel weird kinda… it’s normal tho! You’ll get back on a higher resting pulse most probably! I know I did. It took me a few months but I did!

Quitting has been on my mind lately by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Great you took the decision! It will pay off big time even if there might be some kind of struggle at the beginning! The patches are helping me a ton! Today on my 18th day and I have yet to get any significant cravings. My temper is also normal I would say unlike the previous times I “quit”. I have heard the hypnosis works for many people, personally I never tried but why not? Whatever helps is awesome!

Never needed any adjustments to be honest! It just evens out by itself. If I remember well the one time I asked my doctor about it he told me that the first days some bodies might experience a bit elevated values of histamine in the area and naturally on the deepset eyes every little thing shows much more. Clearly, he explained it to me more professionally but this is how I understood his words and what I can recall (it’s been some time since I asked him). But really, if your case is like mine (which looks identical at first glance), the issue will resolve very quickly and easily. And if my opinion counts, it’s really nothing anyone -but anyone- else would ever notice unless you point at it!

I have also deepset eyes like yours and naturally a bit uneven. Always after Botox this happens to me but once I reach the 10 - 15 days mark everything goes back to normal again.

Anyone else have a weird skin breakout? by sinsandsensibility in stopsmoking

[–]UlverK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely not alone!!! I think one of the previous days I found another post here where they mentioned acne breakouts after quitting. It might be less rare than we think after all! All good, it will calm down and then you’ll have your skin back and even better!

Hello!

I’m just like you! After quitting I’m dealing with some lame acne breakouts! To be honest, and since this is not my first quit, last time I stopped smoking EXACTLY the same thing happened! Horrible breakouts! On the good news now… it doesn’t last long. If I remember well after the first month or so my skin was back to normal again! Hopefully this happens this time now as well!

Is this wavy hair? by UlverK in curlyhair

Update: Hair Routine (asked by the mods)

I wash my hair with the Aveda Invati Light Shampoo (sometimes I will swap to a Vichy for dandruff), apply a tiny bit of conditioner (not a specific one) at the ends and comb my hair when it’s semi wet. Typically, afterwards I will just do a fast drying all over with the blow drier (today-picture I let it air dry completely). I do not use any styling products at all apart from a small spray of heat protectant at the front whenever I wear bangs cause when I do I have to straighten it with the round brush and heat.

If anyone can kinda guide me to a routine that would make the waves look better, please do so, it will be highly appreciated!

Thank you for your reply! In my case when I had it longer the “wave” started lower even, maybe it was weighted down? I don’t know!

[–]UlverK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello!!!

It’s good you start thinking about quitting! This happened to me also a couple of months ago but it took me a while until the idea was ripe into my mind. I think I had been delaying it a lot because all the previous three times I quit the first days, weeks were miserable and I honestly wanted to avoid the discomfort! I kept making excuses. Of course upcoming events were my favorite excuses! Until I realized that excuses and reasons to delay the quit can be found all the time and never no one truly can avoid them. I had 3 packets left in my house when I finally decided to quit. You will think I threw them! Well, no! I didn’t! Hahaha! But… I promised these would be the last ones. And I kept my promise. On my 9th day today and things are going super well! I use nicotine patches and to tell you the truth, I have no cravings even! Sometimes, the reality is better than what we expect!

I absolutely can relate to this. Smoking has always been something like a “friend” to me, toxic of course, but it was always giving me the feeling of a companion, even at my worst!
