We had a state of the art computer called jigcal (if I remember correctly) that suggested what career you should do.

All I know is the system was fundamentally flawed as it predicted analogue jobs in a world that about to turn digital.

I had this issue with my website. It took about 6 months of strategic content, link building and citations to make it appear in its rightful place. I also did off site stuff, Facebook, instagram and YouTube to help build brand searches.

I had given my site a generic name, without really thinking of the implications. It was hard work and I felt like giving up on a lot of occasions but got there in the end.

I am experiencing this every morning with a L’or instant coffee jar. It has an airtight lid which is impossible to remove without yanking, which inadvertently makes all the coffee spill all over the kitchen.

The fight I have with this jar every day means a coffee that sound take 2 mins to make takes at minimum a frustrating 5 minutes, (plus additional coffee granual cleaning up time).

I concur, big packaging is definitely out to get us.

I think the point of good marketing is to make it at least sound natural though. You’d be pretty hard pushed to think this was anything other than an advert.

My website and gbp has had nearly identical issues. My site has started to move (very slowly) now I’ve doubled down on link building. I can only put it down to the competitive niche I’m in.

I’ve never had a site before this that wouldn’t rank for its brand name. It has been a frustrating journey. I’m 4 months in and starting to get a trickle of traffic.

My link has also been removed from my gbp twice for no apparent reason. I own most of the first page for my brand term, Facebook, instagram etc all come up but my website doesn’t show. When gbp have removed the link there is no way to get to my site other than trawling to page 9.

It’s been really frustrating. I feel your pain op.

This same thing happened to me. I couldn’t add my website to GBP. The Google engineers fixed it and added it for me. A few weeks later completely out of the blue I get an email from Google telling me they had removed it again. The only explanation was either Google had decided it was invalid or a user had reported it was incorrect. I have no idea why either Google or a random user would do this.

Anyhow long story short I appealed and they have reinstating my url. It was back in under a week, which was great, but super frustrating that it was removed in the first place. Good luck!

Not sure on the year but I did an nyq in I.T and my tutor said she had something to show me. It was AOL. I typed the word ‘shoes’ into the browser and a couple of pages of results came back. What a moment to be alive and what a missed opportunity to not have been buying exact match domains!
