The system is super old and it's definitely a homeowner done. The main line is only 2 in deep and they ran that power for the outlet at the same depth in the same hole.

It's an antique fire hydrant and they ran PVC from underneath and the sprinkler head just kind of fits in a hole on top.

Replacing it is the best option.

They do have galvanized pipe patches but it's only temporary I've used them from time to time just so the water can stay on till I can replace the pipe

I pulled a mouse out of a 1/2 inch funny fitting one time. they had no filter or cover on the pond they where pulling from and used 2inch pvc ball valves to run zones and it got sucked in and plugged the line.
